Going to toss $10 on the Bruins making the final just because - Mahewman
Sure why the hell not? We'd all love to see it happen.

wow, i am surprised both are back at that term. Bergy definitly could have gotten more from somewhere else, so looks like 4.5 mill against next years cap, push the chips to the middle and go all in!! |

I've seen a few tweets that the bonus Monday can slide an additional season. Not 100% sure. though. Can't confirm it.
At least they have a respectable team. Not a fan of tanking and I hate teams and fans who want it. Ottawa, Edmonton, Buffalo Arizona should be relegated for it. |

They can go 10% over and just use LTIR to start the season. Never a worry there. Wonder if it will be one of the D or if they will try and move someone like Smith. - dothedougie
What are the performance bonus clauses? Are they easily obtained? Using LTIR and the bonus cushion in a flat cap is never a good idea.

Its not. And I believe the bonus' for each are games played. Like 10 games. Both should achieve full PB's easy. |

I’ve been trying to find it but I’m not sure those details are usually released. I’m sure they are easily obtained
Edit: Bergeron. 10 games played. $2.5 million incentive |

Neither was not drafting or acquiring a replacement for either player over a now 7 season span.

Curious to hear your take on Chicago at the moment. In my opinion, what they are doing is about 2-3 years overdue. I don't see it as tanking, but more a required restart. They were never going to be able to fill in around Toews and Kane well enough to compete again.
Even with Bergeron and Krejci back, are the Bruins really going to be competitive in their division/conference? I don't really follow the team closely, so I am sincerely asking. Would it not be better to start to bring in new blood or maybe make some other moves now to get younger instead of delaying the inevitable? |

I don't see the 2 teams as very different from one another. Chicago has initiated a rebuild due to years of front office bungling. Now you'll have wasted years of Kane that still could've been good ones. The Bruins will have no choice within the next 2 seasons to rebuild due to front office bungling. In this case wasting Marchand's final elite seasons. Outside looking in on Chicago, it seems that Stan Bowman was actually an idiot though not to the level of Chiarelli, Neely or Sweeney.
The teams I listed have sucked for 2 almost 3 decades(EDM, AZ), have ruined countless prospects and still continue to. |

I don't see many similarities between the two to be honest. The Bruins are still competitive. Chicago hasn't been competitive in 5 years. Chicago has two monster contracts weighing them down. They are tanking as much as they can to see if Kane or Toews will ask out. |

I see a ton of similarities between the Bruins now and the Hawks of '15-'16 and '16-'17. Good enough to get to the show, not good enough to win it all. A team whos best days are behind them with not a lot coming up to help the pipeline. |

Jury is still out on that. What happened today is great. They still have key players hurt to start the season. Just about every team in the conference has improved on paper. The similarities are there. Bowman made many bad moves over decade and has forced the rebuild. Sweeney and Chiarelli have combined over the last decade for the same. The rebuild is coming in Boston just not this year.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Indeed there is a lot to hate about Bowman's moves the last 3-4 years. The repeated "getting the band back together" moves were maddening. He actually began to start over two years ago, then for some unknow reason lot his crap and traded for/signed Jones, Fleury, McCabe, T. Johnson, etc. and blew up any chance at getting the ship turned around semi-soon.
Good luck this year. I think it would be great for the league (great story) for Boston to do well, but it is admittedly a tall climb. |

Zacha avoids arbitration. He signs for 1 year 3.5M. |
|
|

Figured they would sign both. Only way they could be competitive this year. Contracts fair 5 mil for Bergy 3 mil for Krech. Rumor is 3.5 for Zacha. Don’t know about that. Foligno and a dman (Reilly, Grzelyck) have to go. Would love to slot Lucic in Foligno’s spot. Lot of moving parts. Especially with Pasta’s contract looming. |
