Zacha. 1 Year deal for 3.5? Interesting. Higher than i thought so someone is moving.
Wonder if that makes him a UFA after this year? |

Figured they would sign both. Only way they could be competitive this year. Contracts fair 5 mil for Bergy 3 mil for Krech. Rumor is 3.5 for Zacha. Don’t know about that. Foligno and a dman (Reilly, Grzelyck) have to go. Would love to slot Lucic in Foligno’s spot. Lot of moving parts. Especially with Pasta’s contract looming. - johnnypie
Swayman needs an extension too. Guessing it will be a bridge contract of some kind. He is an RFA so im sure it will wait until at or near season end to happen. |

Hopefully Coyle's bloated cap hit. I imagine it is going to take a roster player to entice a team to also take on something useless like Foligno, Nosek etc. |

As a Flyers fan, I know the feeling. - MJL The league is better when both Boston and Philly get to hate each other in the playoffs. I can't believe Fletcher still ha a job. Disgraceful. |

I am not that worried about Swaymans next contract. It will likely be in the wheelhouse of Spencer Knight.
3 years. 2.5 per. year.
Unless he takes the world by storm this year. Which would be a win for us.

He just needs a contract. And it should be a priority after Pasta. |

Really these 3 signings were no brainers.
He traded for Zacha so he has to sign him .
One year 3.5 a little high . The 1-2 centers fair deals but again no brainers. Now he has to make some decisions. Foligno has to go ,Chicago, Minnesota, Ducks may have interest . Calgary for Lootch with some other stuff moving around would be great.
He has to trade a left dman to trim cap. Reilly or Grzelyck 3 mil +. Way I see it he has to straighten out 4th line . Does he think Frederic can center that line or is it Nosek again. Lootch and Freddy with Steen or Wagner ? 3rd line Coyle with Zacha and Smith unless you move his 3 mil. The first 2 lines are kind of set although I still don’t think Debrusk is top line winger. Lot of thinks for a GM to think about along with the contracts for Pasta and Swayman. Couple of good moves and this team can be a fun group.F—k it bring back Kessel for less then a mill and save money on the right wing. Bet you he would put up more points then Smith or Debrusk. Then you really would be trying for one last fling .
They could be like the 67 Leafs old timer club that won their last Cup 😜😜 |

Gryz is probably more tradable, younger, and people still think he's tory drug lite, plus, he gets manhandled in the playoffs, basically just shy of useless in all reality, I dont mind Reilly, as long as you dont expect too much.

I see a ton of similarities between the Bruins now and the Hawks of '15-'16 and '16-'17. Good enough to get to the show, not good enough to win it all. A team whos best days are behind them with not a lot coming up to help the pipeline. - dothedougie
Bruins spend decades being the team that made the playoffs, but never did enough to get over the top. Jason Allison as a #1 center at one point?? are you kidding me?. Imagine if the rest of the league played like there was a cap back then whey Sinden/Jacobs pretended there was.
Now they do spend, so its not cheapness, its ineptitude, and I get getting a guy like Iggy on a crazy contract when you are eyeballing a legit stanley cup run. without McAvoy and Marshand for a while is gonna hurt, even with Bergy and whatever Krejci has in the tank after playing in the Jr's last year, I see them fighting for the 8th seed.

There is a serious bet on Montgomery bringing a lot out of the kids. If they even want to compete for a wild card spot they are going to need a multi-line effort to start the season. Will be interesting to see how their "one last ride" plays out. |

Wanting to take a poll among Bruins fans on Charlie MacAvoy and whether he is an elite defenseman in the league. I say he is. Another poster who claims to watch the Bruins a lot says no. That he is overpaid and is just a good player. Thoughts? |

I don’t have any complaints with McAvoy. He is very solid defensively. He skates very well. He plays the body. He’s probably our meanest defenseman and is improving his offensive game.
He’s a stud
After Hedman. I’d say Charlie is in the conversation for 2nd best overall defenseman right now. Makar and Josi are much better offensively but those are two special players |

My biggest issue with McAvoy (which really is an indictment of the rest of the dmen) is that he plays bigger than he is and pays for it. He plays that way because our "big" dman Carlo plays like a cream puff...which is a shame since if he played to his size he would be awesome because he is a good defender. |

I agree. If carlo showed the same toughness and physicality as McAvoy he would be such a monster.
McAvoy is a top tier D man. He will get many Norris nominations in seasons he stays healthy. I am hoping with someone like Lindholm at his side he can provide more offense from the back end without feeling like he has to take unnecessary risks. |

McAvoy is a stud. He plays a certain way because that’s who he is. You don’t want to take that fire away just like Marchand. They have to play in your face. Now neither should have to fight to spark the team or defend teammates. That’s on the team to have players to fill the role. He should play mean and stick up for himself but last year 2 top guys were trying to answer the physical challenges for the team. Their too valuable. Anyone that doesn’t think McAvoy is an elite dman isn’t paying attention. |
