It was definitely a reach by pre-draft predictions.
I'm split on that decision because they could have just grabbed a rando later, but they took a guy early instead to lock down who they thought was best.
It was also not a good goalie draft, but they haven't drafted near enough goalies in the past few years and they needed to take one. Taking him that high was a reaction to their decision to take only one goalie since UPL which was partly because Adams only had 6 draft picks his first year, and only 5 after the Peterka trade
They're chasing bad decisions. Hopefully it works out. They got their guy - Hank Balling
Like I said earlier, would have loved to see that pick in their video. Wouldn't think that was a consensus pick and very curious who was pushing it and why.

Another goalie was drafted 10 picks later. So prob not - Fattony1187
So that gives them 9 picks to have moved down to. Warren would have been the better pick or Luneau IMO |

Would have preferred they just waited until the 3rd, or moved up a little from there.

No idea. I would like to think someone was pushing for Cossa or Wallstedt with the Rosen pick last year |

There were some good players with 1st rnd grades still there at 41, I don't mind the goalie just not there. |

Wallstedt was the top player imo regardless of position at pick 14.
The fact that Minnesota got him where they did is ridiculous.
Judd Brackett should be a GM somewhere. He has put on a clinic in Vancouver and now Minnesota |

Take a goalie every draft. First high pick this GM has taken, right? Get your guy. That is the name of the game in the draft. I understand you wanted other players, but goalies are typically long developed and short lived in organizations. Imo. Keep drafting goalies. |

The best explanation for passing on him is that they had just landed Levi as a prime piece of the Reinhart deal three days prior and they didn't want to scare him off. Again, chasing the ghost of previous decisions |

I have no problem with taking a goalie, I agree about taking 1 almost every year. But I think they should have waited, there were some good players still there, especially a few RD |

Along with the surprising array of RHD prospects available at the Sabres 2nd round pick, there were even a couple of quality forwards still available too.
One was even a Center.
Taking a goalie was not an issue. Taking one when there were so many quality defensemen and forwards still available was a bit mystifying.

Don’t even let allen warm up during preseason. Just put him in a bubble |

So yeah, Allen shouldn't play until the Rams game.
PS is nonsense |

Honestly football might be the most over practiced sport out of all the major sports.
How many times have teams come out of training came and have gotten whooped badly.
All those OTAs and training camp just to look like garbage
Bills vs patriots Bills beating them week 1 all those years ago is a good example |

So out of this years 3 1st rnd picks:
Savoie
Ostlund
Kulich
Who do you think makes it into the lineup first?
Think it's Kulich, and not to put Savoie down, but IMO Kulich was a steal at 28 and wouldn't surprise me if he is in Rochester this year and pushing next year. |

Little information for you:
So far this year 19 meat or food processing factories have burned down. Over 100 meat processing dispenser's have had some kind of fire incident. Someone is attacking are infrastructure, stock up people. |

Agree on Kulich. Love his attitude.
We can all disagree with selections in the Draft, based on who each fan would have rather picked.
Not directed at you 36, just processing through the back reading...
There was a good article on Ventura and his Analytics impact on the Draft, which was their primary focus when building their Anaytics DB and Algorithms to evaluate the Prospects. As we know, the data available to teams is significantly more expansive that that which is available to the Public...in this case (and others), the FO knows considerably more than we fans and public draft analysts...especially with the very highly respected Ventura Team.
Good discussions can be had about what Prospects fans like...but to take shots at the team for a Draft these public analysts who mostly rated the Sabres Draft Grade as A or better...well let's just say well like that's your opinion man. |
