I happen to love intangibles. They're a different piece of the overall pie. It's why guys like 35 year old Kyle Okposo are extended instead of finding the 25 year old version of him in free agency. - TheSabresTaco
I find it intriguing that fans would take a position of one or the other, rather than recognizing they are both pieces to the puzzle, each with their advantages and drawbacks...then, add in the intangibles and the picture becomes much more clear

Sabre are NOT winning shat with Comrie, AARP and 6K. They will be better then last year but that because we will score more. - hehateme

then you would be exposing pilut or fitzgerald to waivers to keep a 41 year old locker room guy on the roster - homiedclown
Piluit is exempt, until he plays a few more NHL games.

He woke this team up when he came up, he is what he is a 6-7 and Granato likes him. |

One thing I'll give KA some credit for is bringing in someone better than Fitz, instead of a second Bishop. He looks like a tweener to me.

Isn't that what a 6-7 is a tweener. I'm glad they brought in someone too. |

Funny how him willing to step up for his teammates gave others the incentive to start playing a little differently. |

I think there's a little bit of a difference. I wouldn't call Hagg or Pysyk a tweener.

If your plan is for Comrie and UPL to each get 30 starts, then neither is a legit starter, right?
If both are capable of 30 starts, do you need Anderson at all?
I'm guessing their ideal plan is that UPL will show in training camp that he needs to be a split starter with Comrie, which would make Anderson only needed in case of injuries.
That would mean they'd be carrying 3 goaltenders of their 23 roster spots. - kingcong39
I guess this is where you lose me. UPL is still young enough and Comrie is new to the org, so the question remains. Andy is an emergency only goalie imo, and hopefully you have one of the two that stand out. If he gets 15-20 games in (probably) his last year in the NHL, he isn't going to hurt the Sabres this year. There were plenty of games where he played pretty well as well.
Counter point, would you rather have Subban as your 3rd going into the season, or Anderson. I know which I'd prefer. |

Easy solution, roughly right:
- UPL / Subban split 55 AHL games 2:1 basis (37 / 18 gms)
- Comrie / Anderson split 1st 55 games in a 2:1 basis (37 / 18 gms)
- UPL / Comrie split next 27 games 1:1 basis (14 / 13 gms)
That workload should test the starter capabilities of both UPL and Comrie.

I would've tried damn hard to bring in two real NHL goaltenders who are not 40+ and an injury waiting to happen.
They very well may have tried that, although I'm dubious on that with how much they seem to be pinning their hopes on Levi.
Anderson feels like a hedge bet and nothing more.
A free ride on the vibes train, and if he sustains a season ending injury early on, oh well, no big deal. |

You know I'm firmly in a different camp. All of the significant trades he's made have been selling off his best players for futures. Those trades are a mixed bag and I don't give a lot of credit for making the picks he's acquired. Tearing it down is the easy part, he's got to take the next step to impress me. - Lunaion
Kinda hard to do this over night in the NHL.
You guys want to spend to the cap max, its just not feasible.
They rid themselves of some many high priced guys
Eichel 10 m
Sam 6 m
Risto 5 +m
Ullmark 5 m
KA has done a remarkable job not finishing dead last, that's why I'm so optimistic.
And alex tuch is very likable |

He provides decent value as a #8 behind Bryson and Pilot.
Case closed. |

Of course you can't go there.
That would be admitting KA did a fine job of managing generally.
I'm surprised you still like watching the Sabres games or even paying attention?
This should be a very fun year with good young talent thru out the lineup. |
