I'm hoping. Just kind of going on the track record of guys like McAvoy, Bergeron and Marchand taking more reasonable deals to keep a competitive team on the ice. - glove_was_stuck
I mean its been very fortunate that guys will take less to stick around Boston. Hope the trend continues. |

Kind of hoping he goes the Crosby route.
8 years with a cap hit of 8.8. Front load the money.
He’ll probably be around Mcavoy though - Mahewman
Market value has gone up since Crosby signed that one. Hope you're right though. 8 years at anything less than 10 per is a steal for that kid. Cant lose him. |

Will it be done before the season starts is the question? I think it will be done once he's back in the country.

Kinda what I'm hoping too. Although there hasn't been much of an update. Last thing we heard is numbers weren't even exchanged yet. Could just be that Pasta just wants to enjoy time at home and not discuss business until he gets back. At least that is what im going to tell myself until the season starts

I'm assuming it's this. This is the 1st real off-season since all this COVID bullpoop began. The scheduling was pretty jacked up for awhile. Also he didn't exactly have the best offseason last year. Probably just taking the time. I would.

Genuine question because I was thinking about this the other day. Not really even sure how to word it. Do you think a player getting married will impact them on the ice? Hockey then isn't the priority so they might just coast more/avoid injuries. I tend to think so.
Feel like in the end it softens your team a bit.
Carlo, Coyle and Hall are all players that i could see getting married then hockey is no longer the #1 priority. Maybe I'm wrong. |

Perhaps. But a part of me has to think that the spouses know what they are getting into and are supportive. Its likely not an easy life, but at the same time there are plenty of married players that still perform well. Bergy is a great example. I'm sure he talked this next season over thoroughly with his family and they supported another season. If they didn't, he probably would have called it quits.
Might be a distraction and create a little drama in the background sometimes. I dont think in the majority of cases it is a huge distraction/detriment. |

Yeah. For the Patrice’s and Marchands of the world I don’t think it’s a distraction. Certain players don’t take nights off. But some definitely do.
I don’t think it’s so much a distraction. Just a mind set change.

I think the family does impact the players. I couldn't help but notice Lucic seemed to play with less of an edge after his daughter was born...could just be a coincidence though. |

I think there are also players, like the ones you listed (Carlo, Coyle, Hall), who take nights off regardless. Hall especially has been known to go on long stretches of being a ghost.
Families can be a mind set change though, I cant argue that. Whether or not that translates to on ice play is debatable. Interesting thought though

Depends on the player I guess.
Look at Brady. Retired. Didn't spend long with his family before he un-retired.

Funny. I noticed that as well. Actually mentioned it to my brother, that Milan lost his snarl after he became a dad. |

So plenty of buzz about a Lucic reunion with the B's after this summer. Also some rumors that the B's are shopping Craig Smith (whatever he is worth). Maybe there is a trade to be had with calgary that solves both things?
To Calgary: Craig smith, 2025 2nd, 2023 3rd (for retained salary)
To Boston: Lucic (50% retained)
I'm sure that deal needs finesse. Sorry bored again. Off season sucks. August is the worst.

I would imagine they would only trade for Lucic if they can get move Foligno somewhere.
Lucic would bring grit and the meanness that the Bruins lack but trading Craig Smith for Lucic almost makes the team worse. Offensively. Craig Smith is no game breaker but he still almost doubled the production of Lucic on a much lower scoring team.
Lucic had 20 pts on a high powered team and i'll tell you a majority of those goals he scored were ugly. Like 5 hole slappers that never left the ice. Strangest goals, and he did it several times lol

I like the idea of it. The only I issue had with Lucic was the contract. If CGY would take on Foligno and Lucic plays in a bottom 6 role great! I think it could help them. If the Bruins management tries to convince he is a top 6 forward again then no. Hell (frank)in no. |

yeah not sure how it happens. Would love it if they traded foligno but odds are they dont and he ends up on a line WITH Lucic. Being facetious
I wouldn't mind Lucic back in a severely reduced role. We will see what happens though. I wonder what the return will be for Smith if he is really being shopped. |

He has the potential to be around a 15 goal a year guy. GMs overpay for them all the time. It's interesting for sure.
