Has there ever been another offseason when there has been as many as 13 teams over the cap about a month from camps opening?

Specially the Kapanen signing...he was supposed to get a $1.5-2M prove me deal at best...and most of us didn't even want him back. Oh well. He'll shut all of us up with a 45 point season.

The Rutta signing we just didn't see it coming. Questionable.

The only thing I can think of is they didn't think they were getting Petry and the pairs would have been...
Dumo-Tanger
Math-Rutta
Petts-Ruh but who knows haha. Ask Hockeyinsiderr

... and just another member of the Penguins 6ish mill cap hit club haha

EDIT: when I wrote this I was thinking Rust was 5.725....its 600k less...what a deal for Rusty...hopefully he can stay healthy and doesn't miss 20 to 30 games again this season.

We have really great value at Guentz and Rust and we'll see if we got good value for Rakell.

Bolsonaro seems like a POS but I do appreciate him calling out Dicaprio for spending so much time on yachts and then criticizing Brazil on climate. *not that I don't find it absurd that the Amazon is being burnt down for crop space.
- MacPatty

He’s a fn id!ot. Misogynistic. A lot of the things he does resembles the nazi. Not kidding. Just look for it, really.
Bolsonaro represents stupidity and “old school” ignorance. He’s destroying our economy with Paulo Guedes. A government for the rich only.

=====

You’re all very sad and angry people and I feel bad for you. You’re not true Americans. You’re traitors and morons. You’ve been programmed by anger and fear to hate other side. I wish you all the best and hopefully you find your ways to no longer having white anger.

Peace out everyone. Go Pens.
- Rinosaur

I feel you. Bolsonaro’s supporters only think about having guns for the “people of good faith”.
We see a lot of them as frustrated with something in their life and trying to act tough or turn to violence.

- Barnaby36

That crazy, don't know any republicans that think that. Everyone should have the right to own a gun in 'Merica, except specific felons.

But how will that help the Penguins' bottom 6?

Blueger, Heinen, Kapanen, McGinn, Carter... what about them? Not bad at all. We could use another good player there but that's about it.

Except Kap will probably be stubbornly used in top 6 and those 3 have a combined cap hit of just over 9 mill for a lot of meh'ness hahah

Definitely a low mid-tier bottom six. Not enough finishing talent, aside from Carter.

Heinen has good finishing ability. Kapanen is supposed to be a decent 3rd liner.

I like our group but as I said: we are missing another piece imo.

I think McGinn is overpaid by 1M at most but he's a smart player and meshes well with Blueger defensively.

Actually you know what? If Rust and Rak stay healthy, and I guess thats a big if, then Kap would have to be pushed to bottom 6....hopefully thats how it goes...

Question is if Zucker will keep healthy this year. He's a good player.

I really think the top 6 should be:

Zucker-Sid-Rak
Gentz-Geno-Rust

I don't think they'll drop Guentzel but I could see this:

Guentzel-Crosby-Zucker
Rust-Malkin-Rakell

Before anyone comes saying they're all out of position, 16 and 17 play both sides.

They may play boths sides but they havent been used like that very much at all...and probably wont be. I dont think they'll drop Jakey, either, its just what I think they should do haha. Jake-Geno-Rust was a powerhouse of a line, Zucker and Geno dont gel and to my eyes Rak looked better with Sid than Geno.

Just think this will be a big shake up. Zucker showed some chemistry with Crosby but they never revisited it. Rakell plays well with either.

I think Zucks and Rak on 1st line could be considered a big shake up as well

I think Heinen is a solid, responsible 3rd line player. I think he's more likely to have 10-12 goals this season as opposed to the 18 from last year or 16 from 17-18.

I usually take these charts with a grain of salt, but he did go from under 50% percentile for 2 years, to around 70% percentile, last year seems like a bit of an outlier and likely is due to playing a good amount of time with Geno, I would think. Not sure if he's going to get those same opportunities with Carter. Especially if Kap is the RW.

On the flipside, Kap's finishing took a nose dive this year vs. last year.

I think his true finishing is probably that first plot point, around 60-65%. Kap couldn't buy a goal last year if his life was on the line but thats always been the story of Kap, really streaky bottom 6 guy that tries to get forced into the top 6 cause of his name.

I’d love to see that experiment but Sully will have Guentz stapled to Sids line because that’s what Sid wants. I could see Rusty dropping with Geno however.

That's why I wouldn't put both together on th 1st line. As I mentioned before I'd rather have a hustler in each line(Zucker or Rust) and a high skilled forward (Guentzel or Rakell).

We'll be fine!
