For Athletic subscribers, Dom Luszczyszyn has his annual fan survey out. Flyers are going to drop significantly for the second year in a row. Let your voice be heard. Wish I could have given a zero for vision but alas, it is a 1-5 scale. - NC Flyers Fan
Easiest survey ever. |

1 across the board for me. Only because I couldn't go lower.
I also mentioned Fletcher and the old boys club still living in the 70's.

Oh isn't there now?
I already posted the operating income for them pre-pandemic and post 2013 lockout. Now look at stadium attendance figures for the same time by %.
This is a business, run by a business. Imbibe that fact and you will at least see that my pov is not indefensible even if you don't agree. - PT21

Maybe. Comcast has a longer reach to attract events. I am very skeptical that arena gets built in China town vicinity. - furio16

Ah ok. In that case you would have to increase the amounts because your actions are that of an individual when you are shopping like that (so the contract analogy would not work).
See, the Flyers are not quite that small a part of Comcast earnings as that. Their yearly profits are about 40 billion last 3 odd years. Flyers had about 40m profit pre-pandemic. So Flyers contributed about .1% of Comcast profits.
So, for a guy who makes 50k, say, that would be a $50 note he dropped. Would it make much difference? Probably not. But would he care to avoid dropping it or pick it up? I would think so. - PT21
Thatās a fair point. And if those numbers check out that does make sense.
Also consider not just net profits but what theyāre currently worth? A couple hundred BILLION? Not sure if the exact number.
While yes certainly quarterly bs system used but once youāre dealing in the billions sports teams become toys. Think of it this way
Say X team loses 10,15,20,25 million a season over a whole straight decade
Does X billionaire owner whether corp or private care? What do they blow that type money on yearly? Cars? Paintings? Yachts? Etc.
Itās a game to them. Toys. Bragging rights.
Surely they look at turning profit as bragging only now. Itās not the same as past when teams owned and run by people with an actual stack in the game.
Is it better? Worse? Maybe just different. |

Yep. And those that think itās a fact are delusional.
Name the starting 1c would want coots over? Taking into account all things. Age contract production.
Cool 50-60 point 1c this year. Hahahahahhahahaha because heās played as 1c doesnāt mean he is one. It means your team sucks
That sir is a fact |

Words words words. Go back back to getting your insider information about free agents. Its just as accurate as your opinion on Couturier.

Couturier is a 1C simply because he has produced at a level of a 1C as well as being a dominant defensive center. |

The better question is: coming off back surgery, approaching 30 and with 11 seasons of heavy and hard minutes under his belt, how long will Couturier remain a 1C? |

Hyperbole.
So clueless. Kopitar has never scored 100 points in a season. |

Two points...
1. Its not the Comcast top brass/large sholders who are worrying or not worrying about Flyers revenue. It's Dave Scott. Its his show, and Flyers are not 0.1% of his interests, they are a potentially a much, much bigger chunk. This is assuming his pay is indeed indexed to Fyers profits as a % or a bonus. If not, my hypothesis is incorrect.
2. When people say guys like say Dan Snyder run their team like a toy, they are typically referring to the sports part of the team. Not the revenue part, which is what I am talking about. Dan Snyder may not care about winning, but he pays enormous attention to corporate suites and packages, which is why they make so much money, and why that franchise is so high in the list of valuable NFL teams.
EDIT: Large shareholders. |
