It sure is. I can’t imagine Lou is too much off from this type of deal, which may be why Kadri’s been taking so long to decide. Well that, and likely knowing the Avs were going to be presenting an offer. |

It’s the term that scares me. I was gonna say even 5yrs at $6.5M but I think 4 at $7M would be reasonable too. That 7 by $7M would be rough. |

I would rather have him at 4 years then 7 of course. Also rather have what the Avs offered him but I don’t think he’ll take that from us unfortunately. Like I keep saying likely nobody knows what the actual number or term is. |

Absolutely. I think everyone on here would agree with shorter term for an almost 32 year old, physical player. I’m hoping that if Sakic did indeed make his offer, that we will know soon what Kadri’s decision is. I guess in a way, having Lou be so tight lipped, it actually keeps us engaged on here wondering what the hell he’s up too 😆😆 |

Something to talk about. I like Kadri but he’s kind of an awkward fit with our current lineup imo. I don’t think any centers should be traded to accommodate him. I doubt Lou is thinking that way but who knows. Lots of unknowns but I would think if he’s the route we’re going I expect other changes, possibly big, will be following his signing if it happens.
Edit; I think if you traded Pageau and moved another center down the depth chart we are a better team. On paper. Though I’d be hesitant to make that move. |

Trading JGP would definitely be bold, but not something I would like to see happen (not suggesting you would like it either). He’s probably one of my favorite players. I also wonder what he’d consider moving for JT Miller, but isn’t he a center too? I don’t remember what was rumored at the deadline other than our 1st, but I think he’d be a great fit. |

JT Miller would be a great fit agreed. Nice thing is he’s also signed for one more year at $5.25 Mil. That certainly is a good thing because you know the cap hit for next year. That’s where the good news end though imho. To get him here we need to trade assets and then it’s only a one year guarantee that he stays. So you could be trading an asset or assets and only get JT for one year.
With Kadri you don’t have to give up assets and you know how long you have him and the cap hit involved.
Again don’t get me wrong I love Miller’s game and think he would be a great fit. So would Kadri and think it’s a pay me know or pay me later situation depending on who you sign. I think Kadri is the cleaner deal and you keep your assets which if the Islanders flop again would be nice to have. |

Agree Kadri is the cleaner deal. Not much to talk about right now so fun to speculate on potential options. No one knows what Lou has going on. Anxious to hear to say the least. |

Oh for sure. I think everyone is jonesing to know if there is a deal coming or not.
I thought from the beginning if Lou gets someone it would be Kadri. But who the (frank) knows
Parise was announced on Sept 10th so we might be in for a few more weeks of this. |

Would think you can sign Kadri and trade a center (along with other assets) as part of a trade for JT Miller. Not sure if that works with the cap. |

What about Chandler Stephen from LV?

The Isles have about $11.1M in cap space currently. Romanov probably figures to come in about $2M, Dobson anywhere from like $4M-$7M, depending on how long he signs for, and the rumor on Kadri is $7M. That means the Isles would have to be moving out at least two $5M-ish contracts to fit Kadri AND Miller. That'd probably mean something like two of Bailey/Beauvillier/Pageau in order to make that happen.
And, if they sign Kadri, Miller would likely be a one-year rental. Frankly I think the Isles would be making a mistake to trade another first round pick. But it'd certainly overhaul the roster, that's for sure. |

Going to be tough enough to get one let alone two. Would be a huge mistake to trade a #1 unless you get a young controlled impact player.

Well said and agree. Especially about trading the first round pick or assets at this point.
I think Lou’s a realist and after last years PO miss I believe he’s going to hold on to those imho. |

It all depends on how confident Lou is that the roster can challenge for the cup when he’s done with it. Between his age, the age of our core, and where I think his confidence is at with the teams ability I say he goes for it and doesn’t care about next years first. I may or may not agree with it depending on what exactly he does but I think that’s where his head is at.
Im also not sure if he’ll be able to get done what he wants to do so he may hold onto everything if that happens. |
