What would stop them from living in Manhattan if he played for the islanders? Couldn’t afford his monthly parking bill? - Cptmjl
Dude, c'mon. They made a pitch and he said no. You can't force a player to sign. I think Lou even offered him more money. |

I know I’m not debating that I’m saying the whole Manhattan excuse is lame. He didn’t want to play here for whatever reason. Living in Manhattan was not it. Period. |

Relieved for the long term health of the team's cap
Perplexed as to how someone who openly admitted we needed to add more offense has done precisely nothing to address that issue - eichiefs9
It's very bizarre chief.

It's still bad regardless how the Isles keep getting rejected. I'm happy the Isles are not spending that money on Kadri but it's still very troubling the Islanders continue to strike out with FA's.

I'm actually kinda relieved we didn't sign Kadri but man this doesn't look good - keaner17
It's a bad look whether Garth is the GM or Lou. It's worse it is happening with a Hall of Fame GM with a new building and two recent long playoff runs.

How does playing for the islanders remove someone from going to NYC? - Cptmjl
Great question. It's like the players think LI is 5 hours away?

But on the bright side, this could mean that Räty has a spot on the opening night roster. |

I get it but we have no idea what's going on behind the scenes. We don't know what was offered or why it may have been rejected. |

I think this offseason's been the worst one in a while...and there's certainly plenty of competition for that distinction. That said, I don't think missing out on Kadri contributes to it being a bad offseason. I never understood paying a premium for the only position this team is set at, and then making room for it by shipping out a good winger like Beau, weakening the position that's the greatest area of need. I'm actually relieved it didn't happen so we don't have to see a Nelson/wing experiment part 2 or something like that. - UIF
Very fair UIF and I agree. Kadri is a nice player but not a #1 need. It's 1RW. I think it's good it did not happen but it's been a brutal offseason.

Whatever is going on it's not good how the Islanders keep getting rejected. The end results are the only thing that matters. Maybe they are just not connecting with these top FA's and giving a clear vision of the plan? Maybe Lou needs to go to charm school? No idea. |

At this point, unless there's a trade for some star winger that nobody caught wind of, best course of action would be to just sign Dobson/Romanov and maybe add Milano if he's a realistic option. Keep the cap space available and see what happens this year. No need to hamstring future offseasons by trying to save face. |

I’m an insider as well.
My sources are saying that either something gets done or nothing gets done. And if that doesn’t happen prior to the start of the season then maybe something or nothing gets done during the season. Or after the season. Maybe. Just what I’m hearing. |

The one thing that makes you shake your head at all of this is why does he continue to hide the RFA contracts?
They have the money to sign Dobson, Romanov and Bellows without having to worry about other teams taking advantage. |
