The one thing that makes you shake your head at all of this is why does he continue to hide the RFA contracts?
They have the money to sign Dobson, Romanov and Bellows without having to worry about other teams taking advantage. - brodydog29

At this point, unless there's a trade for some star winger that nobody caught wind of, best course of action would be to just sign Dobson/Romanov and maybe add Milano if he's a realistic option. Keep the cap space available and see what happens this year. No need to hamstring future offseasons by trying to save face. - eichiefs9
Milano and Barzal will dizzy the opposition into submission. |

I would feel better if the team brought JT Miller or Tank on board. Otherwise the only thing that would have changed from last year are the underpants. |

I mean he openly admitted that he needed to add some offensive talent and didn't.
That's kinda hard to walk back after acquiring nothing...no? - eichiefs9
Of course, but if he added Kadri at 7x7 or acquired Miller for a first and Beau for a year and he left would the fan base be happy?
Fact is the whole fan base doesn’t have a clue what was offered what wasn’t etc.
Lou also said he wanted to see the younger players grow in the team. Maybe that’s the offense he’s looking towards? Again who knows.
I also think that maybe Just maybe Lou isn’t/Wasn’t sold on the excuses for last years performance and doesn’t want to mortgage the future. We don’t know what his thinking is but one things for certain, he wasn’t making a trade for the sake of the (frank)ing fan base being happy |

Tarasenko would be the best move. Way better then Kadri imo. Makes sense just don’t know if they have any interest in Beau because that’s all I could possibly imagine going the other way(as far as NHL ready talent goes) plus a pick and prospect.
In all honesty I hope he dumps whatever he can and rebuilds at this point. Won’t happen but we’re more then likely heading for a season of mediocrity and I just don’t see the point. |

I highly doubt the Islanders will have trouble filling seats. Especially as the team (even as currently constructed) is still good enough to make noise in the Metro. |

I wouldn't expect Lou to make a hockey trade to make the fan base happy. I'd expect Lou to make a hockey trade because Lou Lamoriello said, "We’re going to have to get better by making hockey trades." |

They didn’t have a choice. Lou fired trotz because trotz wanted to be close to his family and Ledecky wanted to make sure he paid him the remainder of his contract. Four million dollars as a parting gift. - Cptmjl
4 million is a lot to give to someone who helped turn your organization around. Made you mega millions on PO appearances and a couple long PO runs. Who didn’t want to coach because he wanted to be with his sick wife and take care of his handicapped child. 4 million to that person is a lot for Ledecky and Malkin
However saving 20 million on a 7 year contract due to taxes means nothing.

It's not just about Kadri or Miller. He sat on his hands for an entire offseason after admitting they needed more offensive punch from the forwards and the defenseman and then....nothing, save for Romanov which was a move that I happened to like.
He appears to have absolutely no plan whatsoever. He's mortgaged the future plenty of times with a number of questionable, at best, and poor, at worst, decisions. I don't buy that all the sudden now he's operating with an eye on the future. |

Love the Romanov trade, which he said he wanted to address.
Fact is it makes the team better doesn’t it? I think so. Now if Lambert eases the defensive lock on The forward group a bit or changes the structure to be quicker in transition and not so methodical. Don’t you think that will produce more offense?
Also to get a high powered offensive player in a trade. You’re going to lose assets and I don’t think Lou wanted to do that not knowing how the team would play. That’s why I thought Kadri or another FA would be the way he went. Also pretty bold to say Lou who turned the team around and was trashed every off season doesn’t have a plan. Seems his off season plans have worked out pretty well. |

God Bless You Lou! At this point just put Wally with Barzal and Lee and keep if there for a nice long stretch. Same for Salo and see where the team is after a month or so. |
