On paper this team should be able to compete and make the playoffs. But the stats themselves are deceiving at times. You cannot look at the bottom line but the game by game performances. Meaning that the stats some of these players have were not impactful in games. Like the player that scores the last three goals in a 10-2 victory. Yeah he got a hat trick but it was meaningless in the outcome to the game.

We have too hope that the younger guys Raty Walley, Bellows, Dulfor will make some of the dead wood want to perform better. Lets also hope Lambert is not afraid to sit a veteran player in favor of a kid that is producing.

Otherwise this team will be no better than last year.

Lambert is the wildcard, yup.

It will be interesting to see how he runs the team. I hope he opens things up a little bit. Not too much. I don't want to see another Doug Weight as coach.

His style wasn’t very conducive to winning, but at least we were never not entertained.

I'm not so certain about that. I didn't find it entertaining giving up at least 4 goals a game.

Entertaining in the way that a train wreck is entertaining.

And watching my boy Lee pot 40 was pretty awesome.

I did not say the team sucks first of all. I did not say we need a re-build. Nor did I say we needed Garth back.

I simply stated that the team has not won anything of substance to date. Why is it wrong to say that pretty much everyone is tradeable. To your comments I say, prove me wrong. With the exception of 3 players 17 under achieved. This is an 18% success rate of your team with a 72% failure rate.

Your most dynamic forward was ranked 87th in league in total points. That accounts for 4 full teams and 6 players that are better than your top player. Verses a team like Colorado that has 6 players ahead of your best player.

Are u insane the islanders are a thousand percent better than the Snow days. Haven’t won anything? The islanders made it to the EXF twice with this exact team. Under Snow regime they couldn’t even make it out of the basement. Just because Lou hasn’t done what everyone thinks he should have does not make him a bad GM. There is a reason he has been the league a long time and always has a job. I for one line our team minus Bailey of course. Most of the times these guys play with all their heart and if it wasn’t for Lou and a new coaching staff then this team would still be in the basement every year and we would all be mad

Opening things up a bit will be key. Not Doug Weight but you have to trust the defense and goalies can handle a little more and do no need things so locked down.

First take a deep breath. You are going to give yourself a stroke.

Secondly, I am not quite sure you read my previous posts. Had you read my previous I made no comparison between Lou and Garth. I was simply stating that because the team has not WON the Eastern Conference or the Stanley Cup.

Standing pat is not going to help this team get their. The main core is entering the fourth year together and under Lou. Pretty much everyone should be available to help the team reach the next level. However, in your hast your read, Lou sux, I want Garth back and I am trading Barzal for a bag of pucks. It is okay. People hear what they want to hear and block out things that contradict their thoughts. Lou should move whoever is necessary to get to the next level.

Maybe you are happy going to the ECF and losing? Are you satisfied with just making the playoffs??? Because your response seems to indicate it.

I would like to see Lou add the necessary components that would allow them to take the next step no matter what the cost might be. That is what winning teams do. Calgary got kicked in the balls. Yet they were able to grow a new set in the matter of weeks and predicted to be contenders again.

I will leave you with this. Bill Torrey tweaked his four Stanley Cup winning teams year after to remain competitive. No one was safe if he and Al felt it would get them another cup.

In the future read, digest, and then write.

If him and Raty turn out to be top 6 players, even middling, our prospect pool suddenly isn’t so bad. Need some low cost adds over the next four years or so.

I’d put good money on Räty being such.

Dufour probably not. Could be a good bottom 6 guy though.

If they can contribute at the NHL level it’s a win. Not much in the cupboards.

True that.

Especially when said player is picked in the 5th Round.

100%. We haven’t picked in the first rd since Dobson and Wahlstrom I believe? Need some later round hits. Hold onto this years first(hopefully along with our 2nd) in a upcoming deep draft we’re in not such a bad spot if even one of these two hit.

Edit; forgot about Holmstrom in 2019. Been 3 years since we had a first…

Well look at that. Assist on the equalizer for another Islander 5th Rounder, Eetu Liukas.

The first step is admitting it. Do you not know since Garth is no longer GM, no other Islander GM can be criticized for anything? Even the late great Bill Torrey was ripped after the dynasty with many of the bad drafts even though he won 4 Cups. It's part of the business and Lou can take it. The Post blog was fair.

I agree with your thought process. Management will need to give these guys an opportunity to succeed and not pull them after the first mistake. It will help in making us faster, younger and give more cap room.

This is the key. Islanders need a new approach to young players and especially forwards.

Lameriello said there would be more of an emphasis on developing young players this season. I think that may have been one of the disconnects between him and Trotz.

Of course not. Young player who struggled last year as much of his teammates did with an upside.

Maybe it’s time to route for the Flames. I mean they are contenders with a proven GM.
Probably much better for your health
