Yeah I don't think you're wrong, but I'd honestly rather just keep the cap space at this point

An argument could certainly be made for both.

I opt to sign him, for no other reason than to motivate Wahlstrom.

I just don't know who I'd take out of the lineup for him. Wahlstrom would probably be the guy and that's probably not the best thing for his development. They'd have to get rid of someone to make room, unless they're content using Parise as a healthy scratch a lot of nights.

True.

And if Parise’s play last year carries forward, there will be zero reason to scratch him anyway.

Lou's comments about offense I posted were classic Lou. Lou is consistent and Lou and Barry seemed to share a lot of the same thoughts.

However, if by chance Wahlstrom is deservedly( which could never be ) benched.

I would wait and see on signing anyone and leave the money to make a deal if warranted.

Probably was one of the better forwards on the team last year. Which isn't a good thing. Hopefully the whole team picks up their play and have healed from injuries and are ready to go.

Kessel maybe, but never Yandle. He epitomizes everything Lou despises.

A long off season should've certainly helped in that respect.

Asked Lou about #Isles pursuit of UFAs. He said team looked at "different options" but determined "price" team would have had to pay to upgrade at one position would have led to weakening the team in other areas.

Lou just said intent for #Isles is to improve offensively but never at the expense of defense. "I'm a goal differential" guy.

Agreed. Lou likes his d-men to be defense first, second and usually third. Offense is gravy. Yandle seems unlikely.

This is a joke so please nobody get triggered.

Lou: Johnny G you and Barzal are generating too much offense. I need you to tone down the offense and focus more on the chip and chase game and defense.

Johnny G: Sorry Lou I'll try to be more like Leo.

So much for my warning.

It was nothing terribly surprising about Lou but I thought it was interesting.

Lou and Johnny G would be great in a Chico and the Man remake.

I will say those two deals were fantastic for the isles. Much lower then I figured. I could be wrong but aren’t the isles set up nice with cap space for next summer?
