I remember Ramage, Hartsburg, and Goulet. My other guess is Gretzky. - LAHawk
The fabulous five included at least three whom were dubbed the baby Bulls or whatever er the Birmingham team name was.
I recall R Vaive and Behn Wilson too. I don't think Goulet was in that group that signing year. I think Hartsburg and there was a goaltender.
When I looked it up, in fact you are correct about Goulet.
There actually was two others: G Gingras and the goaltender, Pat Riggin
The six Birmingham Bulls consisted of three dmen. two forwards, and.Rihhin in goal..1
Other notable raid on junior. Hockey produced Linesman, BeWiilson, Gartner |

So Nashville gets the 2023 draft, can’t think of a better place for the Hawks to draft Bedard. - Angotti
And someone told me it is in Chicago /UC again in 2024 ? ? ? |

I didn't get to see the game, but I've read a few reports that Victor Stjernborg was a big part of Sweden's win against Latvia, despite not getting on the scoreboard. Very solid defensively and doesn't make mistakes. - Chunk
I watch all games up until to.day, and I say that I was impressed by #19 from Notre Dame, Landon Slaggert.
I do not have time to check into College hockey except at the end.
I know what Slaggert's game was with USA as a junior, and I was pretty happy at the way he plays now. You simply cannot put him in the grinder as a possible 3rd or 4th liner he was tagged as, before he went of to college and worked his tail off.
He plays with motivation, smarts, detail, and much quicker than he was before he was drafted, and still very contact orientated.

Rick Vaive, Michel Goulet, Rob Ramage, Pat Riggin, Craig Hartsburg, Gaston Gingras and Rod Langway etc.
4 defenseman b/c Gingras was a excellent player also. |

2022-23 how low will they go?
....Last season the 2021-22 Hawks scored 213 goals. The 2003-04 Hawks only managed 188 goals. With the loss of DeBrincat and his 41 goals, not to mention the goals Strome, Hagel, Kubalik and Dach, we might see the 2022-23 Hawks score less than 188 goals.

Getting back to this post from a few days ago. Just want to keep the thread going. Hard for me to see this team making up for the output from Debrincat (41), Strome, (22), Hagel (21), Kubalik (15). That's 99 of their 213 goals last year. Almost half.
Maybe Reichel can contribute 10-15 if he makes the team. If Raddysh, AA, and Domi very optimistically combine for 55-60 total, that's 65-75 of the missing 99. Toews (12 last year) and T. Johnson (3 last year) could bump up their totals if they stay healthy. Will Kane contribute 26 goals playing without Cat and Strome? A lot of ifs there. We'll see. |

Draft was in Chicago in 2017. I doubt if it will be back that soon.
Wiz, I'm looking way ahead. Let's say the Hawks get a top three pick in 2023 and ice an equally bad team for the 23-24 season. Any insights as to what the 2024 draft looks like talent wise?

They might give up 5 less so there's that... |

I hope the overall team defense improves and they give up far fewer than the 291 goals against last season.

If the Hawks luck out and get Bedard do you think he should be promoted immediately or left in the WHL to get better defensively and hopefully get a bit bigger and stronger? |

I wouldn't mind Bedard staying one more year in the Juniors to physically mature. Doubt if he turns the team around by himself. Let him and the recent draft picks marinate for a bit. Also can control him contract wise for one more season. But maybe it will be a "business decision" to bring him up and sell tickets, especially if Kane/Toews don't extend. |

Is Bedard at the McDavid/Crosby level, or Hughes/Lafreniere level? |

I was actually thinking that when I’ve been watching him, water bug skater, great hands, not in Kane’s category but a very good stickhandler, outstanding vision and awareness but two advantages he has over Kane are his position (centerman) and his shot is off the charts good. The other thing is Bedard isn’t afraid to throw his weight around. |

Unless he’s drafted by the Hawks, then he’ll be more like Tyler Arnason. |

Sikura gets called up, scores 35 goals. Sign Brandon Piri, 40 more goals. |
