Pronman over at the Athletic has the Hawks under 23 year old prospect list rated #13 in the league. Reichel, Nazar, Korchinski, Kurashev, Vlasic, Greene, C. Dach, Kaiser, Rinzel, Regula in that order are his top 10 prospects.
Del Mastro, Allan, Safonov, Commesso and Slaggert are 11-15.
Thought Del Mastro and Slaggert had a decent WJC tournament. Maybe Pronman developed his list before those games?
"Have a chance to play" according to him, include Beaudin, Hayes, James, Kelley, Ludwinski, Phillips, Stjernborg, Tepley, Thompson. - boilermaker100
The one notable omission that caught my attention was Jalen Luypen. As a former 7th round pick expectations are low, but his development has been tremendous and I think he has a shot at the NHL. Maybe its a long-shot, but I think he could have been on the "Have a chance to play" list. |

Ha ha, no, not enough knowledge other than observations.
Tyler had Theo lined up, and I think JJ had Tyler lined up?
Maybe you (when serious), an LA, Chunk, Mo, Paul or Wiz? Stevie? Boiler? |

I already asked. It's half an apple, an old six pack of Bartels and James wine coolers signed by Bruce Willis (even though he repped for Seagrams), and an IOU for a gift card to Chuck E Cheese. |

Jumping from 23rd to 13th after 1 draft is impressive. It came at a cost (Dach and DeBrincat) and there's no guarantee any of these prospects play in the NHL (other than Reichel who already has), but it's still impressive.
The Hawks have 11 combined picks in the first 3 rounds in the 23 & 24 and I expect that number to increase after the 23 TDL. With the addition of a top 5 pick in 23 (hopefully top 2) I would expect to see the Hawks move into the top 7 next year (prospects ratings).
The upcoming WJHC will be a great opportunity for some of the Hawks prospects, namely Nazar and Korchinski to show what they can do on a bigger stage.
I thought Commesso would have been higher than #14 on the Hawks prospect list. I've heard/seen nothing but rave reviews for the kid.
Its one thing to have a list of good prospects, but it's another to have a development strategy. For the first time in a very long time it feels like the Hawks have a measured approached to cultivating talent. Again, that's no guarantee but it increases the likelihood of more prospects becoming full time NHL contributors. - DarthKane
All it took to move up our minor league rank was to trade an NHL 40 goal scorer just entering his prime. How quickly we forget. |

Opening Night Roster - Forwards
September 27th the Blues will be in town to kick-off the Hawks 22-23 NHL season. It appears Kane, Toews and S. Jones appear to start the season as Blackhawks, but a lot of the depth positions appear to wide open as to who will make the team and who will get sent down?
At present CapFriendly (Chicago Blackhawks Depth Charts Roster and Line Projection - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps) has the following lines based on their depth chart:
Reichel – Toews – Kane
Athanasiou – Domi – Johnson
Lafferty – Khaira – Blackwell
Kurashev – Entwistle - Raddysh
Beyond the players on CapFriendly’s assigned lines, GM KD went out and signed numerous players to add depth realistically to the bottom two lines and AHL. There is a large pool of possible players who may see some NHL games this year. Who in your opinion will make the opening night roster? Who will stick in the NHL or will it be a continual shuffle between the NHL and AHL for the fast majority of the players listed below? Who is your dark horse surprise pick of fringe NHL who will claim a spot? Who will fall out of the order?
• Boris Katchouk
• Reese Johnson
• Buddy Robinson
• Mike Hardman
• Josiah Slavin
• Dylan Sikura
• Brett Seney
• Luke Philp
• Evan Barratt
• Jakub Pour
• Michal Teply
Opening Night Roster - Defensemen
Following on from the look at forward line combinations / depth chart that CapFriendly published (Chicago Blackhawks Depth Charts Roster and Line Projection - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps) has provided the following defensive pairs based on their depth chart:
Vlasic – S. Jones
McCabe – Murphy
Stillman – C. Jones
Jack Johnson (TBC) – CapFriendly hasn’t listed Jack Johnson on the depth chart yet
Again, like the forwards there are a lot of players who could be called up and see some NHL games as the season wears on. But, who in your opinion will make the opening night roster? Is Vlasic a lock on the first pairing or will the signing of Jack Johnson, give Vlasic more time to marinade in the AHL. McCabe/Murphy should form up the second pair, but who of Regula, Mitchell, or Galvas will earn the first callup spot on the second or third line for some games during the year. What about dark horse Roos, will he surprise and start in the NHL or work his way up later once he adjusts to the smaller North American ice surface? Who is your prediction to surprise and steal a spot? Who will be the first to be traded to make room for one of the youngsters?
• Alex Regula
• Ian Mitchell
• Jakub Galvas
• Isaak Phillips
• Nicolas Beaudin
• Filip Roos
It will be interesting who adjust quickest to the new defensive scheme and what the pairing will shake out to be.
Opening Night Roster - Goaltenders
Following on from the look at defensive pairings and forward line combinations / depth chart that CapFriendly published (Chicago Blackhawks Depth Charts Roster and Line Projection - CapFriendly - NHL Salary Caps), the goaltending situation looks pretty much set in stone, pending any unforeseen injuries:
Petr Mrazek – starter
Alex Stalock – backup
But does Arvid Soderblom have it in him to spoil the plan and steal the backup position behind Mrazek? He’s probably better served to spend the year playing most of the games in the AHL with possible brief cups of coffee with the Hawks where the schedule is conducive. What do you think, another year to learn and marinade in the minor? Realistically yes, but what are your views and where do you see the Hawks goaltending over the next few seasons?
Interested to hear your thought?

I know Roumeliotis is kind of the general Blackhawks info guy, but this was at least a good overview of Kaiser.

Charlie is another idiot (thought the Hawks draft spot after the lottery win to #3 slot would change to three in all rounds-he knows what they feed (tell) him.
Kaiser stock rising.....WHY....scored goals in the World Junior U-20 (and he knows the NHL plays more games)

Simmer down Wiz. Starting to sound like ArlingtonRob.
His coaches are also pointing out the positives in his game. It’s not like the kid is devoid of talent and they are pumping his tires. |

Wasn't aware of that .. interesting ... ok, technically in a what variety of trainwreck is it way .... but still, technically, interesting.

Do you guys think Tyler Johnson gets hurt in training camp, preseason, or game one?
Forgot Khaira existed, if he’s your third line center you can already hear the ping pong balls bouncing around in Bettman’s little lotto machine.
McCabe Murphy should compete at the all star weekend for slowest pairing in the league. |

Thanks for the content. I'll look at the roster from a different angle and won't go into line or pairing combinations. I'm also assuming no trades going into the start of the season.
FORWARDS
Will make the team - Kane, Toews, Raddysh, AA, Domi, Blackwell, T. Johnson, Reichel, Lafferty, Katchouk, Kurashev. That's 11.
Probably make the team - Entwistle, R. Johnson
Last spot - Khiari (or will he remain on IR due to last year's concussion?), Hardman or Slavin
Injury call up - Hardman, Slavin, C. Dach, Barratt, Guttman, Teply. (I'd rather give them a cup of coffee to see if they are worth keeping around rather than bringing up the Sikura like vets.)
DEFENSE
Will make the team - the Jones brothers, McCabe, Stillman, J. Johnson, Murphy (if healthy). That's 6.
Last spot - Regula, Mitchell or Vlasic.
Injury call up - Regula, Mitchell, Vlasic, Roos, Phillips
GOALIES-
Will make the team - Mrazek, Stalock
Injury call up - Soderblum
So basically the lineup consist of veterans and a few journeyman younger players (Entwistle, R. Johnson, Hardman, Stillman, C. Jones). Looks like the plan is to keep most of the young prospects down on the farm to further develop, learn the system being used with the parent club, and hopefully experience a winning atmosphere.
Some of the vets are likely to be moved at the TDL (AA, Domi, J. Johnson) at which time some of the younger Rockford players should be called up.

Hawks marketing reading the survey results on Colby Cohen:
Liked his contributions: 12%
Enjoyed when he was on the air: 10%
Would prefer he has a more prominent role: 5%
‘Great, let’s bring him back.’
There’s 25 former Hawks from the cup teams wandering around and they give the gig to this clown. Burish, Shaw, Mayers, tons of guys who fans wouldn’t mind hearing from every couple minutes. Yet we get this knob. |
