Can't believe Twitter is spreading a rumor that the Blackhawks traded Dach because of his inability to win faceoffs. |

Not sure MON is as bad off as the Hawks. Suzuki, Gallagher, Anderson, Dvorak, Hoffman, Dadanov, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Dach. Short on D and Allen in goal but they look a bit ahead of the Hawk's current roster.
And speaking of Dach gonna be interesting to see him under St Louis in MTL. https://www.dailyfaceoff....nd-a-chance-to-break-out/

Caufield alone makes the Habs better. |

I'm a Bears fan and it's refreshing to see the professionalism they are showing in the preseason. Bears are in a transition period, i believe this gm will pay the offense instead of the defense. Oline already looks better than it has for years but in football the most dominant player on the field is the QB, and they might have one, we'll see.
Even if this Blackhawks team is discipline, they just don't have the talent. The 19 players they dress each night, no matter how discipline are going to struggle to score. - BetweenTheDots
Bears offensive line will be exposed when they start facing the other teams first string edge rushers. But the line is young so hopefully they get better with good coaching.
The Cubs have had a dreadful farm system for most of my 65 years. But if you follow the Cubs now you hear a lot of good news about the players in the minors. Hopefully in the next two years we begin to hear a lot of good news about Hawk prospects in college, juniors, AHL, Europe etc. |

I wish under Richardson the players are told not to try the play where they do a drop pass to a teamatte who has built up speed and who gets the puck between center ice and the offensive blueline. Never a fan of that play.
Thoughts on this...

That's mostly the "push-em-back" entry for PP's. You see it occasionally 5V5, but in my viewings, less so. If Richardson's statements at his press conference are to be believed, I would assume we will see a lower risk style of play. More concentration on defense and pouncing on the other teams' mistakes. I don't want to take the creativity out of the players' hands, but I think there will be less "what the hell were they thinking" plays this year. They just have such little available talent on the roster that it is expected to be tough to score goals. |

For all the Pronman fans: he ranks many of your other team favorite youngsters behind Lukas Reichel.
Nuff said on his lists...

Not that I'm defending Pronman, but what is the basis of his rankings? Is it just a subjective ceiling? How soon they will make an impact?
I dumped my Athletic subscription a while back, so I don't actually read him anymore. When I did, he seemed to just give consensus opinion on them and not really dig into what would set a prospect apart from the others. |

Who's coaching the power play? I assume it will be King since Richardson and the new assistant Kevin Dean are defensive minded. If so possibly expect more of the same, including the "push-em-back" zone entry.

They also have Derek Plante. If you watch games around the league, probably 75% r more of the teams use the push back entry to some degree or another on the PP.

Maybe but they might actually get better as the season goes on. A decent line takes a while to gel, and IF the QB really is beginning to read the field and coverages then it'll just frustrate the opponent. |

If they'd had these young pitchers five years ago they would have saved a lot of bad moves and been in the playoffs or contending every year. Geez what a plan. Man genius here 9 years didn't develop one pitcher. That's hard to do if you aren't trying.

My definition of a rebuild: turn the roster over becoming much younger and then able to compete for the conference title. At that point anything is possible.
How long will it take? |

Even for me that is kinda harsh (as I was not as high on him as others on the board) He was traded for a draft choice (prospect) that the current GM feels has greater upside. |

Definitely subjective on Pronman's part. As he writes in the article (my bolded)...
This is a ranking meant to show who I think will have the best pro careers, not who I would take in a game tomorrow....
...This list is my opinion of who I think will become the core NHL players from those draft classes; we’ve had the benefit of time to see how some of them have developed.
He has Reichel listed 28 in the "Top of the lineup player" category. Only other Hawk in the top 100 is Nazer at 94.
Take it for what's it worth.
