There is also this possibility... My impression is that the members of the BOD occassionally give up a tad early on a young player. I know, I know, they generally do know more than paid professionals; but maybe, just maybe, Dach has the potential to further develop. But, then again, my avatar is a unicorn.....

If he plays anywhere close to his potential, it is a bargain. If he doesn't, his contract is still in line with a 3rd line player (especially if the cap really does go up starting next year.)

3.362 cap hit for 4 years for potential.....while not a huge cap these are the ones that can add up and ALSO ruin the market for the next wave of players. 19 goals and 59 points in 152 games.....Canadiens better PRAY he gets it.

I just hope another offseason gives him time to heal that wrist...read here that it takes years to overcome those injuries. So maybe by the final year of his deal he'll be 100% healthy and can help contribute for the Habs.....

Those fans and that market are going to eat him alive.....
