He was getting scratched at Rockford. All he is will be this years version of Chad Krys, will be traded for another player destined for the A.
- LAHawk

It's so funny you said that. I was going through the Hawks D prospects and that is the exact comparison I made. He's a guy that should be so much better than he is.

It seems like he tried to be "tougher" last year and that just took away from all the things he did well. Maybe he ends up a late bloomer with someone else.

He’s 22. Plenty of solid Dmen had barely sniffed the NHL by 22. No reason to give up on a first round draft pick just because he hasn’t lit it up on bad teams. We watched Forsling, Kempny, and other smooth skaters walk at young ages and go have success elsewhere. Beaudin isn’t as old as any of them were, give him time.

He's Back!?

I wish. I loved Artem. He was perfect for that "2nd" line role. He was partly or largely responsible for so many goals where he didn't get any scoresheet credit. Just made as much room as he could for Kane and Panarin, and got in the goalie's face.

IMO if Murphy proves himself to be healthy in training camp that he will be gone before the year starts.
- LAHawk

As much as Murphy gets trashed on the bod, He will bring the most value back in a trade, out of all the vets on the backend.

beaudin just does not fit what kyle wants from his D. he wants guys that can skate and skate with size. beudin is neither. he also has to clear waivers. I wonder if we trade him to a team that has a roster spot for him.

That's fair logic, but you also can't do that with everyone. There are plenty of former first rounders that never became anything.

I would look at it like this: Does he provide anything unique or specific that no other prospect does? Also, has he progressed each year of development? I'm fine if a prospect doesn't light up the lower leagues if they are progressing in other ways. From all that I've read and watched, he did the opposite. With ample opportunity, he was surpassed by others on the team.

So now we have the age old question, when do you cut bait on a prospect?

I look at it that those already signed and play LD, I see Vlasic and Phillips (and maybe Galvas as he can play both sides) playing ahead of Beaudin, and that doesn't include Allen, Del Maestro, etc. coming the year after. And the waivers is a big issue. I can't see the Hawks keeping Beaudin on the big squad just so they don't lose him to waivers, although i am not convinced anyone would pick him up anyway.

I forgot Roos will also be in Rockford.

He can’t start the year in Rockford? Certainly there will be other injuries and call-ups that keep things fluid in Rockford. I’d like to see what he can do in a full year under the new regime. He’s a cerebral player, not physically gifted but makes the right decisions. To me that sounds more like Forsling than Krys, plus Krys was an eternal prospect who did three years of college before filtering around in Rockford.

He can start the year in Rockford, only if he clears waivers first, he is not waiver exempt.

There doesn't really seem to be any room at Rockford either.

Galvas - Mitchell
Beaudin - Regula
Phillips - Crevier
Vlasic - Roos

with Allan, del Mastro, and Kaiser coming next year, then Korchinski the next.

Maybe a 2024 4th from Montreal for Beaudin?

Bergevin liked Beaudin. Bergevin is now in LA but is not their GM. So if Beaudin moves to LA, credit Bergevin for twisting Blake's arm

I don't think smart GM gives up anything for Beaudin.. Or watch KD get an exchange of late picks, we get a 6th, that our 7th.

Should Beaudin be a late bloomer, I foresee at least two more seasons AHL

Hawks sign forward Cole Guttman to a 2 year ELC. He became a free agent after not signing with TB after his college eligibility ended. Played 4 years at Denver and was the team captain. Was a 6th round pick. Another forward for Rockford.

Apparently not enough. I was hearing a lot that the US goaltending was inferior due to Commesso not being there. Was that a big issue, or did they not defend well?

Galvas and Mitchell are locks for the top minutes. Regula had a good year and I think they like Vlasic a lot. Crevier, Roos, and Phillips are all toss ups to me. Phillips looked ok in his call up last year, Crevier is so enormous he’ll need a couple more years to get his Bambi legs under him. I’d keep Beaudin even if it means sitting him in the press box at the UC every night. Keeping a 7th rounder like Crevier instead of a 1st like Beaudin is illogical to me. Every five years they try to find the next Chara (Svedberg was the last one) and it hasn’t worked yet.

He is fine most of the time. Likes to let his presence shown by way of good contact on checks, blocks and playing inside of his abilities in his end. If he doesn't, he looks like a bottom of the line-up guy, but one who has good mobility. Lots more to improve on before I would deem him an NHLer.

What is listed is just at Rockford. You still have C. Jones, McCabe, Johnson and Stillman on the left side with the big club. It appears (unless the Hawks trade McCabe) that they are not ready to expose the youngsters (specifically Vlasic, but also probably Mitchell and Regula) to getting overwhelmed until probably after next years trade deadline.

Hawks picked Beaudin in the first round, most scouting prognosticators had him ranked as a second/third round selection. (47th, 54th, and 64th). I don't think Wiz had him as a first rounder either.

The guy is small, not a plus skater. He has good hands and vision. Unfortunately the first 2 are not what the new Hawks regime is looking for. Do you think KD, MacIver, and Doneghey would of selected him 27th? I don't.

I’d also like to point out how absurd it is that I’m going to bat for a prospect to make our AHL lineup. This is nearly as embarrassing as our collective clamoring for Dylan Sikura to rescue our team years ago. How to tell your franchise is beyond relevancy… arguing about the minor league team’s hierarchy. Dark days my friends.

Except Crevier has progressed to show he can be a very solid defender, and Beaudin has stagnated or regressed. Why does it matter at all where a guy was drafted? Nylander was an 8th overall, and we are still waiting for him to break through.

A prospect's job is to continually make strides to prove his worth. Thus far, Beaudin has not done so.

7 (188) — Louis Crevier, D
How often does an organization sign a seventh-round pick? And how often do you see a 6-8 defenseman who can move? Crevier’s size stood out at development camp because, well, he’s enormous. But he also played well and will get a chance to show what he can do as part of the organization now that he’s signed. What will make him an intriguing player to watch is Crevier was the first contract signed while Davidson was the interim GM of the Blackhawks; he put his name on the dotted line on Nov. 2.

Meanwhile Beaudin tried to play a tougher game got away from his supposed strengths. He was ultimately scratched for other players during the playoffs.

He'll have to go through his "pizza" phase first. Unfortunately, I'm not sure he gets that chance on this team.
