3 man booth plus Cohen between the benches?

https://www.nbcsports.com...k-sharp-tv-color-analysts

- LAHawk

Sharp didn't want the full time job. He's living in Vermont I think. And Troy may have lingering health problems. Maybe Murray gets the home games to limit travel and Sharp gets some of the central and east road games.

Too bad we'll have to listen to motor mouth Cohen down at the bench.

Nice that Wiedemann will continue to handle the radio play-by-play. Thought he was being reassigned to a lesser broadcast position.

My relatives who live in Mt.Prospect moved out b/c the thought iit might erupt.

His coaches are also pointing out the positives in his game. It’s not like the kid is devoid of talent and they are pumping his tires.

Yeah, I guess I apologize, but the reason I started delve into the "find out yourself about the prospects" area was because directly related with that hometown insert section added to the early GOAL magazines, that told me as a hopeful of the future loyal fan who found hope when a prospect like Mike Prokopec was hyped as the future.
It was frustrating when all lost the m majority of these future Hawks were duds.

And I spent that quarter for the Hockey Pictorial magazine (not really readily available at US newsstands) that was monthly sold side by side the OLD white Chicago Stadium program. After reading enough of the stories about non NHLers, from the old Western Pro or AHL you almost could change the player name and see the another article, another player in 4 months.

I dunno anything, but I am more comfortable attempting to predict a prospects future prior to the draft and try and gauge their positives, but after that, I just think any player (KAISER) is not worth the hype after scoring a couple goals in non-NHL games until I see him excel AGAINST NHlers.

The poop rate from Junior to NHL pro in relation to the draft is very high with most players not in the top 30ish, and the better pros come from that top half or higher in the pret-teens.

It seems team success seems to be more related to picking early and the chances of getting that dominant player more than ever. But ... it also is related to each crop as to where the solid prospect (Iinsured pro, w/o the BS of top six, first pair talk by the GMs.) END as solid chance group changes yr to yr.

What has truly changed through my eyes is how the youngsters are after skilled stronger in the hands, and
you start to enter a large grouping where these kids with hard work CAN improve their hockey sense, skating, strength and diagnostic skills, and just more repetition.

And the reason the Charlie R and Blackhawk rubbed me was you could easily have placed so many prospect names in it, and it's purpose was to the same as when Eddie O was not in the color sidekick to tell us how so many of our new NHL players "just have to improve this and then ______" talk.

I am done that.

Completely fair. I am 100% with you on waiting until they actually prove something in the NHL before getting excited about anyone. I just saw a new article related to the hometown hockey club and figured I'd share for anyone who doesn't normally peruse NBC Sports Chicago.

I like what Kaiser has shown thus far (mostly in college, not necessarily the WJC), but he will obviously need to show that and more to become an NHL regular.

Hawks marketing reading the survey results on Colby Cohen:
Liked his contributions: 12%
Enjoyed when he was on the air: 10%
Would prefer he has a more prominent role: 5%

‘Great, let’s bring him back.’

There’s 25 former Hawks from the cup teams wandering around and they give the gig to this clown. Burish, Shaw, Mayers, tons of guys who fans wouldn’t mind hearing from every couple minutes. Yet we get this knob.

I for one am happy the color man reigns for TV are going to Troy Murray.

I o only met him once. After he was signed the later press guy Don Murphy brought him down from the press box to meet me (or probably b/c he didn't hav er anywhere else to display him b3fore the Blackhawk game.) and we talked during the pregame about hockey & he asking me about me!
I guess it surprised me.

I hope this is a sign he is getting better.

(It was like anybody but Colby for me.)

I simply loved former Canada Gold medal hockey defenseman CHERYL POUNDER during World Juniors.
It wasn't in any way add a women to talk like the women during the draft with the most stupid draft list she got to talk about (and predict incorrectly off of).
To me Pounder was not a token add.

She knows more than all of us here.

She is not some Chelly's daughter spring chicken...she has a daughter playing in hockey already.

And hits the nail on her analysis, not repetition, fresh perspective and seems like you would want to have a picnic with.

he has a 3 yr contact and he is not gonna get fired and paid off.

In a pinch or if Troy Murray is down, he will be asked to be a side-kick, but he always seems to make it into a joking (not really, more like put downs of Chris Vosters) with the new guy, as he AGAIN did at the telecast of the prospects games.

He seems too think after watch the million yr. relationship and bantering between Eddie and Pat, he can waste precious broadcast time a) one up man ship of Chris Vosters, b) himself as in, "when I played",.... and just jumping to the forefront too damn much.

If Sharp, even Burish, and Troy m make a game related comment, it usually is a clocked statement of something happening about to happened based on what happened just before. (Same for Ray Ferraro imo, who I like, b/c in the playoffs he seemed to have a pulse on the actual game and then would not over advertise it, state and see.

Yes, I didn't think about Troy doing it from home.

Sharp moved his family out of that cool house
near Cubs park house one block from Magnolia ...
I like him and I am sure we will see more of him.

I know you always ask who are prospects for the draft and I came across something at Elite Prospects I wasn't aware of. They have the top prospects and other notable prospects for the next 3 drafts. Found it looking up a kid named Cole Eiserman who's eligible for the 2024 draft.

I watched the tryouts for the U-17 NTDP over 3ish days and this kid stood out a ton. Reminded me so much of Hossa he could have been his son. Thickish super skilled centerman backchecked like an animal, just like Hossa. Huge fan, huge. ....... Kid put up crazy number for Shattucks U-18 as a 15 yr old.

Anyway, here is the next 2 drafts notable prospects and top prospects at EP. Not ranked but in alphabetical order but they have the stats, league and country nice and easy to see.

2023: https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft-center/2023

2024: https://www.eliteprospects.com/draft-center/2024

Notice the 2024 draft. The only kid to outscore Eiserman at Shattucks was Macklin Celebrini. Maniac 15 yr old put up 117 points in 52 games at the elite program of Shattucks U-18, Toews' alma matter. .. Where is that Canadian freak playing this yr as a 16 yr old you might wonder? For the Mighty Chicago Steel!! ..... Also notice one of the notable prospects listed is Michael Hage and indeed he'll suit up with the Steel this yr too!........ Grab 10 bucks and get to a Steel game and have a look see for yourself. Go see em play the U-17 NTDP squad and get a look at My Guy Eiserman too.

- Mr Ricochet

After watching the Hlinka-Gretsky at the start od August, I am thoroughly confident that Aron Kiviharju has a really good chance at going first and he is now a 5' 10 , 160 defenseman.
He played pro at FIFTEEN and had little trouble with older physical guys.
I think Aron Kiviharju is truly an elite generational player, in the Makar mold.
He is sixteen now and will still be 16 until after (He will probably play) our second World Junior U-20.
I cannot say enough about how he reads, passes, plays dee and dominates...

I probably shouldn't do this but he is the primitive start of my 2014 lists:

https://www.lines.com/nhl/drafts/2024

HEY, do not forget about the kid I have going to Hawks with one of their top three picks, Shattuck's William Whitelaw, who will eventually play at Wisconsin U.

Just a FYI for anyone out there who gets the CenterIce package on DirectTV. I received my renewal notice for the upcoming season. $69.99 for the year - 3 monthly payments of $23.33.
- boilermaker100

Thanks for the info bm. Does anybody have any idea how to get CenterIce package without cable? I dropped Xfinity a couple of months ago and I’m now streaming.

Thanks for the content. I'll look at the roster from a different angle and won't go into line or pairing combinations. I'm also assuming no trades going into the start of the season.

FORWARDS
Will make the team - Kane, Toews, Raddysh, AA, Domi, Blackwell, T. Johnson, Reichel, Lafferty, Katchouk, Kurashev. That's 11.

Probably make the team - Entwistle, R. Johnson

Last spot - Khiari (or will he remain on IR due to last year's concussion?), Hardman or Slavin

Injury call up - Hardman, Slavin, C. Dach, Barratt, Guttman, Teply. (I'd rather give them a cup of coffee to see if they are worth keeping around rather than bringing up the Sikura like vets.)

DEFENSE
Will make the team - the Jones brothers, McCabe, Stillman, J. Johnson, Murphy (if healthy). That's 6.

Last spot - Regula, Mitchell or Vlasic.

Injury call up - Regula, Mitchell, Vlasic, Roos, Phillips

GOALIES-
Will make the team - Mrazek, Stalock

Injury call up - Soderblum

So basically the lineup consist of veterans and a few journeyman younger players (Entwistle, R. Johnson, Hardman, Stillman, C. Jones). Looks like the plan is to keep most of the young prospects down on the farm to further develop, learn the system being used with the parent club, and hopefully experience a winning atmosphere.

Some of the vets are likely to be moved at the TDL (AA, Domi, J. Johnson) at which time some of the younger Rockford players should be called up.

- boilermaker100

I think of things in a similar way depending on injuries. Who knows what will shake out with a new coach, but here is my starting point.

Raddysh Domi Kane - I think they want to give Domi a bounce back season, chance to succeed and if nothing else raise his PPG and value, plus I like Kane having a winger who is a right handed shot.

Reichel Toews Athanasiou - Let Reichel show he is ready to play and learn from a vet like Toews. I think he has the compete level too play with Toews and AA can likely keep up and find some spots to chip in.

Kurashev Blackwell T Johnson - Kurashev could take a step forward and become a legit middle 6 guy. Johnson will play if healthy but YMMV and Blackwell might land a spot in the middle.

Katchhouk Slavin Lafferty - Slavin I have hopes that he makes the jump and can play solid minutes as a 4th line guy.
Khaira Entwistle - Khaira maybe healthy? Entwistle could get regular minutes

Call Ups - Probably the first two are 4th line fillers if needed and I think Telpy could get a shot.
R Johnson
Hardman
Telpy

On D, I think we know 3 of the top 4 D if healthy. Jones, McCabe, Murphy, and then might depend on who is playing well to land spots 4,5,6,7. I could see C Jones getting a bigger role possibly.
McCabe S Jones
Stillman Murphy
J Johnson C Jones
Stillman

Just my guesses without seeing who is healthy and how camp looks or what the new coach may prefer..

I think ESPN + has the USA streaming rights. Wasn't it around $10 a month last season or as an add on to Disney streaming service? They won't show the Turner games. Of course you may have to put up with Leah Hextall doing some games.

I think if you want to stream the actual Center Ice package you need a subscription to a satellite or cable provider.

Less than a week from August being over, and THAT IS when you tell the University of Saskatchewan's men's hockey team you quit?

So your assistant is temporarily in charge a nd they have no coach.

Not too considerate, Mike Babcock.

Sure he's a jerk, but this does look like a setup to get his good buddy Cote a head coaching job. Not enough time to properly replace Babcock.

Top 2022/23 Questions?
1. Will Kane and Toews stay or be traded at the trade deadline?
Kane and Toews are the last players from the Hawks Stanley Cup winning days and are in their last year of $10.5M contracts. The big question is will they be here at seasons end or will they request a trade and be traded out at the trade deadline? KD has chosen the path to tear the team down and restock and rebuild. Young players like DeBrincat and Dach were traded for picks and well as Strome and Kubalik were not offered qualifying offers and allowed to walk, all with the hope to speed up the rebuild. Rumours abound daily of Toews and Kane being traded, but they are control of their future, will they be traded for future picks and prospects? It will be one to watch as the season progresses.
2. How will the Blackhawks fare under a new GM, and new coach?
Kyle Davidson is now fully in control as GM of the Blackhawks and picked his coach Luke Richardson to lead this team as they shed players for picks and prospects. The tank is on for high draft picks over the next few years. Coach Richardson will bring in a new defensive system and it will be interesting to see how well and quickly the players and team adapt to it. Not many Wins are expected but I’m sure everyone is hoping for a better system that makes the Blackhawks more defensively aware and competitive. Once the new kids start coming along there will be surely growing pains, but hopefully the foundation will have been set and they will be able to return to their wining ways and again push for the playoffs. It will be interesting to see how long this process takes and the twists and turns that unfold.
3. What will the play of veterans be like?
Toews publicly questioned the soundness of tearing down the team and starting fresh with an estimated 5-year rebuilding process. Kane was disappointed at seeing his linemate DeBrincat traded as well as other young players. S Jones’ new contract kicks in this year, the first of eight and the idea of spending a good majority of it going through a deep rebuilding may not sit well with him. How will the veterans respond? Except for S. Jones most veterans are on expiring deals and will be UFAs by season end. How many and who will be shipped out? How will M. Domi, A. Athanasiou, J. Khaira, and J. Johnson fair? I would expect most of them get traded at the deadline to give the kids some games at the end of the season.
What are your thoughts and other questions you have of the 2022-23 Blackhawks?
