He’s solid but unspectacular. He skates pretty well, he’s positionally sound, he moves the puck out well mostly via passes and isn’t adverse to chipping the puck out if he’s in trouble he hasn’t shown an inclination to skate the puck out very often. But the best part is he plays well enough and within his game that he hasn’t got himself into trouble. However we’ll see how he plays when Canada plays the better teams beginning with Finland tomorrow.

He’ll likely have a more prominent role at the next WJC.

Is he eligible for next year’s WJC. I thought he was 19 already?

This past season he was a sophomore - drafted after freshman season, right. I defer to Wiz but for most part he is close to pro ready....it is just strength that he needs. Growing from teenage to man's body. Apparently recovered well from knee injury/he might have had surgery. However, his desire initially was to stay in college for the degree.

The main thing with Kaiser is, we do not have a bonehead GM who makes some mistakes in judgment. The scouting an draft evalustion is going to be better than under Bowman. I believe wiz when he says this kid will want to.play here where he can play sooner than elsewhere. When is the unknown.

Among prospects, I foresee Kaiser, DelMaestro, Mitchell, Crevier, Galvas as sort who willing to play safe, sound game. Mix in Vlasic and improving Regula: we have one year of development and each aforementioned MAY be able to play at NHL level.

Among others, I foresee Korchinski and Allen needing more developmental time.No one will be rushed. DeMaestro and Crevier two years AHLos likely since we have three, maybe four kidsx ahead of them

Both Kaiser and Del Mastro appear to be solid players once they settle in at NHL level.. Should they reach their ceiling of course

Very good analysis of Del Mastro at the WJC. Kid has been solid, efficient and cerebral enough to keep it simple. His skating and size really stand out.... Kid must be impressing his coaches. Didn't make the roster, called up due to an injury, sat out the first game cuz he just got there but has started both games since.

He's an 03 so he's eligible for the next WJC. ...... Looking up his birthdate I noticed the kid put up some points in his draft +1 yr this yr. https://www.eliteprospect...r/525637/ethan-del-mastro

Did DelMaestro play in any games yet? If so, how does he look. I would guess his role is simplified.

Yea, he played all but the first after his call up. He is a big thick, mobile and stayed in control to adhere to the international rules.

The workhorse on the dee (as they really came w/o the top 2 who played at the cancelled X-mas version of the tourney) has been Owen Zellweger, the Duck's 5 ' 10 " defenseman.

It is tough to try and pluck one guy from this Canada team b/c there are so many excellent prospects, with the Duck's clicking with Bedard on so many shifts.
I see hockey writers trying to rank these drafted kids and I cannot seee anyone looking better than sturdy Mason McTavish who is a NHL ready shooter and creator...who is ripping up the scoring records and a load to slow down, especially wit the chemistry between him and Conner Bedard.

So with Lehner out for the year, what can we get for Mrazek from Vegas?

I know its kind of silly to ask a stupid question here, but here goes anyway;

Been busy and haven't been here much, The Wyatt Kaiser not signing thing isn't a real thing right?

Holtby is injured and probably won't play this year. Unless you're saying they'll sign him for LTIR purposes

They will get Reimer from San Jose.
I heard from someone that Holty was thinking about retirement.

Right -not a thing.

Most prospects WANT to go where there is a viable chance to play with a young group...

I was under the impression no one who had a choice would play for the Hawks because of the Beach incident.

LOL. I just watched it on tape and was coming to post about it too!

It is all about the way "he" can let the shot go so fast, and it wasn't the greatest angle and still tucked that top corner. He is for real, isn't he?

He gets the puck from cross ice one, two, three strides goes to the fourth (NO there is no real 4th stride, he simply skates into the puck, changes both hand grips as he turns the stick and pushes down to bend the stick and bam. His face contorts b/c he is using has his power, imagine when he gets stronger!. Slow it down pass the part where the defender #4 tries to get ahead on the screen and look at the freaking archer's bend on his stick....that is why it gets off with such velocity. That 70 flex stick that is really long for his size, and the defender put him in a position where he didn't have room for regular follow through, it was abbreviated.

(As Gordie said, "Lightning Strike!")

Very few players in the history of the game have been able to shoot like this.

I loved when he was in the bumper on the PP...

So it is intermission I calll my wife in to see, and I say, "I never have seen any kid in junior shoot the puck like this"....and the BOBBY Maquarita Mckenzie says the same think on the tape.

I am glad I wasn' hyped up, because everyone should be!
