I’m on record :
Coots 22goals 30 assist 52 pts. Minus 4 team finishes bottom 3 in league

And he makes absolutely NO ONE better

Couts makes no one better? Does he not make this team better, Take a look at the stats on this teams win loss in the last 6 seasons with him in the lineup to when he is not. It is night and day. Even when we had Giroux, I think Couts was commonly the most important forward to this team Still amazed at the hate of his contract, when clearly we had no options to replace him both here or under free agency, he is the LEAST of the concerns of this team these days, his health is the only concern as the years go on, but I'll take that contract any day even if the last few years are questionable, the cap hit was kept reasonable

Every player who plays with Couturier, sees his production and underlying numbers increase. This has been going on for literally years. The poster you're replying to, can't put a single fact out to support his premise. He's not capable of it.

How long before people realize that fleece me feltcher made a mistake by letting Oskar go?
Add that to his list of incompetence

- Bob Habib

I don’t think it was terrible that they let him go. I wish the kid all the luck in world, but I don’t think he’s the guy who started so hot the season he later fell ill. I think those two months are going to be an outlier when he hangs up his skates. I applaud him for working his way through a terrifying and traumatic part of his life, and it probably couldn’t have occurred at a worse time for the young man’s career.

He’s a 12-17 goal guy, he’s not a great playmaker, and it did not appear as if he was going to play up to his contract. That would have required a big turn around this year, and looking at our roster, well, they weren’t necessarily going to help him out much. Hey, I don’t blame him for the deal. They offered. He just signed.

What I do think is terrible, is how they spent that freed up cap space.

That’s the ass-chapper, for me.

Like I said I’ll float as his stats hit the crapper and this team is bottom 3 feeder. Then what?

Is that the proof needed that coots is not the answer ?

Or will it be more excuses to defend the team.

No one in this team is part of the.solution. They suck

Except the FACT they’ve won poop.

That’s a pesky little annoyance isn’t it.

But it could be a good situation for Oskar. Only Hertl, Couture and Meier are high quality forwards for the Sharks. So Oskar could thrive some if he can develop some chemistry. Oskar is a replacement for Balcers who oddly is a year younger and making less money. It’s puzzling that the Sharks broomed Balcers who was more productive than Oskar.

I’m curious. With those projected stats just how does that make his wingers better? Not really endorsing numbers there
- Stayin alive

The projection is based on fewer games played. Coots hasn’t been playing full seasons due to injury. If he is healthy all season, he should exceed those projected amounts. The evidence for helping wingers is available in season with the eye test and with stats. If you look at 20 games this season and don’t see it, let’s talk again.

Who were his wingers?

Who on flyers roster AREgoing to be his wingers?

How much of his defensive game has slipped due to more offensive roll?

How much of his offensive roll and production was due to having g as the focal point of the line and pp?

Hey I’ll eat crow if coots puts up some great season( and even if he somehow managed that how long can it realistically be expected ) although me thinks coots wasn’t the reason the line or at times the pp would excel. Me thinks it was more g effect.

Overall at least.

People seem to think or fail to realize the talent level around him. IMO he’s never been the driving force behind 1st line. At least not the majority of the time anyways

Therefore why would it be expected now?

Imangine a world where people think Jvr and tk on coots wings gonna end well. Bee out for awhile. Is he even ready to step into top line role? Am I to believe coots lifts bee game to some consistent productive level? Me thinks not.

Again I’ll be glad to eat crow if it happens and just don’t understand how people acting like coots with his couple 30 goal seasons and two career high 76 point season is some great indicator especially with his age health etc. I believe in law of averages. And his numbers averaged and adding in certain decline with age doesn’t add up.

I think it’ll be clear very early in season.

I also have to add most likely it can be assumed torts gonna play a heavy d system to try to win with this scrub team.

Logically wouldn’t coots be made to refocus on defensive game?

The more I think about it I might’ve predicted to high point totals for coots

I'm not surprised that you have trouble understanding the difference between discussing one player as an individual. With discussing the team overall and it's results.

You're ignorant to the facts. Couturier is the driving force on every line he plays on. Has been for years. He won the Selke trophy while also playing an increased offensive ROLE.
