Who is flyered up this morning? After looking at this roster I believe it is underrated. With a new attitude and focus on bringing back flyers hockey I am starting to think they are on the right path.
They have their #1 center locked up for 8 years so no need to worry about that position. Young stud goalie. A coach who will take the D core to new levels. I am excited. |

Mactavish is a ANA prospect…not Ottawa. Ridly Greig is an Ott prospect. |

I actually agree that we underestimate this roster a bit. They aren't a playoff team, but they also aren't a bottom three team like some suggest. Therein lies the problem for me.
A LOT hinges on the health of Couturier and Hayes.
I would prefer they are a lottery team because I want a shot at Bedard or even one of the other top 3 or 4 prospects that are due in 2023.
What I don't want is a middling team that finishes in 20th and in that no mans land of not making the playoffs and not drafting high. THAT is where I think they are. And it saddens me.

What teams are we better than? This is a bottom 5-6 team. Almost all the teams ahead of us in the standings from last season got better with the exception of Chicago and San Jose. |

On a serious note, as there are minimal people in the stands for WJC, what was the protocol they decided on? Just immediate family, mini-bubble etc ?? |

I think it’s much more likely they are bottom 7-8 than they end up flirting with a playoff spot.
The odds of all of the following happening are pretty slim:
Couts and Hayes both stay healthy all season
Farabee comes back fully healthy and in top form by early Nov, and then stays healthy all season
Risto significantly improves
Provy/TDA are an effective top pair
and, most importantly
Hart not only stays healthy all year and starts 60+ games, but he also plays well enough to steal games.
Barring a whole lot going right for the Flyers and a lot going wrong for some other teams, I can’t see them finishing anywhere but last in the Metro, no higher than 13th in the East and no higher than 24th in the league.
They will pick in the top 10. |

There are possibly 2 teams that they could finish ahead of, and that would be the Habs and the Devils. They finished 15th last year and did nothing to improve this off season. In fact, they are worse cause this year they won't have Giroux at all. All the other teams directly ahead of them got markedly better in the off season (Ottawa, Detroit, Columbus...etc). There is simply no one for them to catch.
I just received my fantasy edition of The Hockey News and they have some more good news for us Flyers faithful. Their top projected point getter for this upcoming season is Couturier with a whopping 55 points!! Yes, that's the lowest projected top point getter per team in the entire league. Please fire Chuckles! |

I’d also like a shot at Bedard but I also believe this team is underrated. Those writing this team off are a little shorted sited. You have to play the games first. Health will be a major factor, improved play by everyone and Torts being every bit the “leader of men” he’s been sold as by players such as Cam Atkinson and Michael Del Zotto who once played under him. |

I wonder… does philly continue trend of being toward top end of league in getting stupid loser point next year? |

Not sure why all these wizards seem to believe a guy who had back surgery and another year older will be anything more than a shell of the former Selke winner.
50 points will be a dream!

For all these people claiming this team is underrated, please look at the league and tell

The Flyers are going to struggle to score goals. I don't expect them to have a good PP. I think they can improve somewhat defensively but lacking a strong offensive attack and puck possession will cause them to defend too much.

I was being sarcastic. They are a bottom 12 team. Sadly wont be bad enough to be bottom 5 to get a franchise level player.
Hopefully the wheels fall off early.

Ex selke being 100% healthy and getting 70 points will do what exactly for this team? |

What with the 12 points through 10 games and the team with a 6-2-2 record. The back issues started in game 12. |
