A little bit of history there.

My favourite line:
"Parker’s has also been the training ground for internationally-known chefs and features a top-notch kitchen and wait-staff that once included Emeril Lagasse, Malcolm X, and Ho Chi Minh."

Good location - you're within walking distance of both Faneuil Hall and Back Bay.

We've seen way too much of late. We just had a friend come up to visit from Texas, and my friend's nephew is Zach Pop, who the Jays just acquired. The same friend's son threw out the first pitch on Monday (after his mom won a silent auction at a golf tournament). So there's been ample watching of the team during this, and it's been a tough slog.
At least they've gotten to see a bunch of Zach's outings.

That's. That's, uh. Some . . . serious overvaluation for Greig. It's also a wonderful lack of appreciation for the salary cap.
I mean I don't even understand how they are managing their money right _now_ with what they have. They have $30m in cap space next year - but they need to sign DeBrincat (who will take a third or more), and Stutzle (who will also come close to a third). Then they have Pinto, and at least 3 forwards and 3 more defense - dependent upon what they sign Brannstrom and Formenton for this year.
They'll also likely need a goalie unless they think Sogaard is an NHL capable goalie. That is also very squishy in there in terms of fitting in their pieces with the money they have. Getting Chychrun and moving out Zaitsev in that transaction makes them better, but it doesn't move the cap needle appreciably - and if you're Arizona, you shouldn't be conceding anything in a deal. They're under no obligation or immediate pressure to move anyone.

I see Leafs of white, jerseys of blue
They'll win much more than Sens ever do
I see Leaf fans on threads saying fire Dubas
They're really saying trust in the Shanaplan
And I say to myself Go Leafs (frank)in' Go |

Depending on what happens with the investigation thing, Batherson and Formenton contracts might not be a problem for them.
I don't see any reason why DeBrincat would want to stay there, but maybe he ends up really liking it there. And personally, I think Stutzle's next contract will be a joke. Does Talbot only have 1 year left on his contract?
If they do get Chychrun, he'd instantly become their best D-man, though. So if I were Ottawa, I'd get the trade done as fast as possible. |

DeBrincat is an RFA who will require a QO of $9m. They gave up #7 and #39 in the draft for him (plus a third in a couple of years). I doubt they gave up that much for one year of DeBrincat. They'll qualify and negotiate with him.
If you're comparing players, Tkachuk had 3 years that were all basically 25 goal seasons with about 50 points, prorated out. They gave him $8.2x7.
This past year he was excellent, but that was an unknown at the time of signing.
Stutzle, in his second year, posted a 23 goal, 60pt season prorated out. He's an engine that makes things happen offensively on that team and I expect him to get a long-term contract that's probably close to Tkachuk's. If he has a good year this year (which, with better linemates and an overall team around him is exceptionally likely), he should be seeking in that same ballpark - or more since the cap is rising again.
They could try and push the problem by bridging him, but if he puts up close to ppg numbers, a bridge will still be in Barzal territory - which is basically $7.2m x 3.
I think Chychrun is young and talented - but he is also injury prone, and overrated based on his accomplishments and his influence in a game. I would certainly not have a problem having him on my team, but he's nowhere near as elite as a lot of people are making him out to be. |

Ottawa will want to keep him, for sure. I was saying it from DeBrincat's side. It's a hard maybe if he'd want to stay. But there's always a chance he'll come to like it there, especially if they overpay him.
I don't like Tkachuk's contract, at all. And I think Stutzle's is gonna be just as bad.
Chychrun's health is for sure an issue, but had he been healthy all season 2 years back, he'd have won the Norris. If anything, I'd say he's underrated more than overrated these days. And he's on an excellent contract for 3 more years. |
