This attitude of look at the cap we barely spent anything is irritating. You and I both know why this roster is constructed the way that it is, and that is because of the overabundance of ELC and first standard contracts.

You wanna trade half these guys outta here and sign Nazem Kadri and the like to mega deals, whatever. I don't. You wanna trade Joker and Mitts for junk, fine, whatever.

We fundamentally disagree here. Fun for an August thread and all, but we're miles apart on where they are at and why.

Accumulation of assets is always a good thing. And for this, all that was needed was cap space, and maybe, but not necessarily, a roster space on a team that isn’t ready to compete anyways. You said it best, Monahan is zero. Not good, not overly bad though, on the whole. Just zero. And to this iteration, I just don’t see the negative. But I don’t think I’ll convince you, so it’s all good. No point in merry-go rounding

I definitely understand the point you are all making. I agree on the asset management. Conceptually it's a quality deal. I think I'm simply stuck on the asset not being good enough for the turd you have to leave in the toilet for the whole season.

Also under no obligation to keep him in the NHL, if he's that bad.

People have been calling to use the cap space as a weapon, well this is that move. Especially with only 1yr

Bishop + Boycuk for basically nothing bothers me. Cap has been a liability for a cash-strapped team.

The moves I want are like Blake Wheeler or Jake Voracek or Cody Eakin, ya know great past prime players

Remember my friend trying to get on the Merry-go-round at the Park when we were young. Had a really good spin going as he made his leap. Most have flown 6ft after he bounced of the bar. Wish they had phones back then!!😆😆😆

Well see the thing with those guys is that it's hardly any skin off of Dallas/Islanders backs, they get tossed on the LTIR and insurance pays a majority of the bill. It's the shedding of the active garbage that is costly. And it appears Adams may have overplayed his hand at the TDL based on 'being in on conversations'. Like, Dadonov, I'd have done that for sure

Sabres may need a C somewhere. IMO, not really any more if not a 1C.

Monahan is slow and not real interested in playing D. He certainly isn't a 1C.

According to some (lol) a guy who produces 45 pts, and in "decline" at $6.0m isn't worthy of a place on this team on the 4th line.

Monahan had 48 pts in '19-'20 and has been declining ever since then, most recently at 23 points in 65 games landing eventually on the 4th line.
At $6.375m some want him?

Can't make this poop up.

Why he hasn't been able to get anything done with the cap space is an interesting topic. Goes right along with wondering why he acquired Bishop before the off-season really started.

Continually hearing that they were in on things, but couldn't get them done raises questions. I can't imagine it's all NMC's.

I think some of us are forgetting that Pegula most likely doesnt want to pay for a player that brings literally nothing to the table for us. He's wasted enough of his money.

It has also been brought up that Sean has a M-NTC. I have no doubts we were on that list.

2 big factors

Bishops actual $ owed is like 2.5 million

Pegula isn't paying for nothing anymore. The amount hes wasting/wasted on former coaches and former players..

I really don't get it. I find it bothersome that they found away to to not actually spend to the cap floor in actual Dollars. They are not taking opportunities to help there Organization. All they weaponized is (Jesus I can't think of anything). Frustrating. Way to much Content in the Organization.

They also paid a 1m bonus, but it's likely less than 3.5m with insurance. I think that's what drove the deal, but there seems to be a divide on that.

We still have to look at the potential deal in the owners eyes and not just a cap perspective.

6 Million real dollars for a shell of a player that once was good and a mid-late 1st in what 3 or 4 years?

So potentially a decent player in 5+ years. Doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

Could spend the 6 million and Monahan sucks and the pick turns out to be nothing.

I think their focus is on 24/25, when the next wave of prospects hits the NHL. A 1st as a trade chip would really help.

Bishop saves cash and doesn't help the team. As a fan, that does nothing for me.

Sorry but sometimes it ain't about pleasing the fan base. The NHL and every other league is a business and Pegs has wasted a lot of money.

It would... But its also a little pointless when that pick wont be made for like 4 years and then development so we wouldn't see the fruits of this trade for at least 6 years, most likely longer than that.

I'm over embarrassment. We've been the worst org. for the last 10+ years.

It is what it is at this point and the deal wouldn't pay dividends for a long time.

To be fair, they tried to acquire Murray who is owed $15m in real money over the next two years
- Hank Balling

And then Gibson
And then called on Kadri

The idea the Sabres won’t spend $$$ is utter nonsense

The only actual money the Sabres would have spent if Gibson was acquired and Comrie not signed would have gotten them to the Cap Floor in real money. They have done nothing to utilize there Cap Space. The only money they would have spent on any of them would have only been real money to the Cap floor, they aren't spending money, other than the fake money to get to the floor.

Well that's what happens when you put your fingers where they shouldn't be. He loses Money on the Sabres, oh well your Families Wealth grew by 800m last year. You just got a checked handed to you by the NFL for 342 million dollars for you cut of the new TV contracts and that's only half of what you will get in the next 2yrs.

Are we actually arguing about not acquiring a player who we probably were on his NTC
