The only actual money the Sabres would have spent if Gibson was acquired and Comrie not signed would have gotten them to the Cap Floor in real money. They have done nothing to utilize there Cap Space. The only money they would have spent on any of them would have only been real money to the Cap floor, they aren't spending money, other than the fake money to get to the floor.

U can try to qualify it however u like
But moving the goalposts doesn’t change that they tried to bring in a big $$$ goalie & called to at least looked into getting a big $$$ center as well

How am I moving the goalposts, it would have been money they had to spend to get to the floor, but actually helped instead of buying a contract like Bishop to get to the floor.

What actually happened is they had the same deal agreed to for Monahan but pegula fell asleep while Adams was explaining the conditions so they couldn't get approval

Bc the bottom line is that AFTER they got to the Cap floor (with the Bishop move) they STILL attempted to bring in big $$$ players

am i the only one on this board that wants good players and also be good and also be better than last year.

because monahan fits in no categories of the above.

People have been calling to use the cap space as a weapon, well this is that move. Especially with only 1yr
- Buff36

The Sabres found a way while every team was struggling with cap to not be able to utilize it.

its astonishing really.

Players would rather go to Arizona and Montreal, than Buffalo.

You mean the Same players that agreed to go to Arizona, Montreal, Seattle and Ottawa.

Teams most consider worse than Buffalo currently?

I guess raise a banner that says "Congrats, you tried"

No not really, Olofsson Lyubushkin Comrie got us to the cap floor. Even after Bishop the Sabres were 7m under the cap floor. And they tried to get Gibson and Murray before they signed those FA.

That's true, but we're also talking about the cap floor. It's embarrassing.
- Lunaion

I know you know that they just unloaded plenty of contracts last season.

Eichel 10m
Not paying sam, risto, mccabe , ullmark.....

This isnt the nfl, you can't just expect players to sign here.

Or make up salary cap in 1 off season

This cheap gig is certainly true, and rightfully so.

Olofsson & a defenseman we’re gonna happen regardless
You’re “moving the goalposts” in acting like those moves wouldn’t have happened & ignoring that they called on Kadri

Ever been to any of those cities?

Of course not

It's not just losing for 12 straight years, it's the area players/ spouses that put buffalo on the no trade list

But Adams is supposed to somehow change the geographics & perceptions about Buffalo to magically make us a destination somehow
Lolololol

Maybe we should hire a Warlock as our next GM??

We still have to look at the potential deal in the owners eyes and not just a cap perspective.

6 Million real dollars for a shell of a player that once was good and a mid-late 1st in what 3 or 4 years?

So potentially a decent player in 5+ years. Doesn't seem like a good deal to me.

Could spend the 6 million and Monahan sucks and the pick turns out to be nothing.

A late 1st is practically a 2nd.
A 2nd in 23 months from now is like a 4th now
A 4th in another year from then is like a 5th now.

Great, 12 pages of precious internet ink wasted on acquiring the equivalent of a 5th.
If it could wit another year where it falls in value to the most coveted 6th rounded we might have something, lol.
Holy fvck guys...it must be August.

Spent 6 weeks in AZ, very beautiful area. Hot as a mofo, I don't give a poop if the 115 is dry heat and only feels like 105 with no water around. Screw that.
Seattle is for left wing grunge crowd freaks, and it is cloudy and rains 364 days a year ... pretty area though.
Montreal, great and interesting town, just got get the frogs to get the noses out if the sky.

Yet somehow the Buffalo Bills have been able to attract top free agents and talent.

Must be different cities.....

Thanks for playing.

I travel quite a bit for work, I always pack a Bills Polo and Sabres polo.

The reactions are very different.

Maybe...and it becomes the equivalent to a 3rd.

Much ado about nothing, IMO of course.

It is all optics with very little critical value. Certain portions of the fanbase is just plain worn out, restless and nothing much will satisfy them this offseason. I get it. But it doesn't make Adams afraid, conservative or any other descriptor heaped upon him by that group.

Or maybe, just maybe they drafted a unicorn, had a WR seek them out for a trade that set the stage for others wanting to be here.
Beaner has done an incredible job in getting guys to sign here as well.
AND, the most important thing...the NFL is So much different to turn a franchise around quickly with the way their contracts and Cap rules work.

Apples to Pigs.
