The difference between off ice leadership / between tuch and okposo probably isnt that huge of a deal. I think okposo would feel disrespected and maybe some of his teammates as well ( for kyle) .
As early as this season peterka is gonna match the on ice contributions IMO.
I cant make to see him be a permanent sabre.
More excited about peterka than quinn personally - Boss34
Well said, if Quinn gets injured early again this year JJ could step over him in the depth chart
Yeah, a lot of teams just hand the captaincy to their best player no matter if they're qualified or not, but it doesnt have to be that way. Gilbert Perreault didn't want to be captain which was fine. - Hank Balling
Absolutely agree.
Sometimes the beat player is an excellent leader.
Look at landeskog, recent stanley cup champion
With makar and nate MacKinnon arguably much better.

Murray Vs resigning Okposo next season.
It’s a bottom 6 role, cap relief, Okposo is 1 hit away from the end and Murray could progress this season into a tough reliable role player.
Okposo would be more valuable as a coach next year than on the roster. - washedup20
We've been saying that Okposo is 1 hit away for years now. The guy is fine. I think the problem with the question is that there is no way that Murray is better than half a dozen other players that are vets in Roch. Also, I think we can based on draft and free agency that they (correctly) really value guys that can skate. Murray is improved but he is still slowwwwwwww.....

Or maybe he knows his time is coming to an end and says No give it to Tuch and just stays a alternate C

He's a monster of a man, surprised he skates as well as he does.

You might be right on the 1 hit away comment, he does fight thru and try. He also only has 1 20 goal season with the Sabres, reached the 45 point mark twice, cost 6 million and is 34 years old on the other side of a life threatening mental breakdown from head trauma.
Murray has the potential to fill the role as a tough guy for the skilled speed on the team. Who else in the system has that ability? If Okposo is on the 4th line and gets injured, who from the minors are you interested in assuming that role?
