He had his best year as a Sabre last year, the youngins love him, and he doesn't hurt the team.
Edit: Sorry lon didn't see your post

45 points woopity franking dooo.

I would rather see a young player replace Okie next year. We don't need 35-36 year old declining players anymore...

I think roster construction is number one on the list. Okposo would not make a competitive nhl roster, extending him just because he is a good guy is bad roster management, giving him the captaincy is equivalent to Steve Ott as the C, purely emotional with 0 upside.

Calgary will be an awful team in 2-3 years with those contracts to Huberdeau and Kadri.

stamkos put up 106 points at 32 years old

I think they have a 4 or 5 year window right now, and honestly they look a lot better vs a few weeks ago

I mean after giving term to Huberdeau they had really no choice but to go all in.

It feels like when the Raptors traded Derozan for Kawhi. They had multiple years of playoffs and really had one or two more shots to do something meaningful prior to their inevitable rebuild

You can't have all young players, he has had a hand In the difference in this Organization this past year. And there's more to being a Captain than just points, especially if he can bring that locker room together.

Stamkos was always an elite player.

Kadri was a 2/3 C before playing on a stacked Colorado team in a contract year.

He will be A bad contract in less than 3 years.

kadri has always put up decent second line stats

he got paid 7 per, not 11

decent second line center contract for the next 3 years

he will fall off a cliff at some point and I think they would have been better off going 4 years for a little more per

I think they have a 3 year window then Sabres style rebuild as Huberdeau and Kadri going for Sunday Skates the last 3-4 years of their respective deals.

Except the age cliff can come at you fast.

He’s signed until he’s 39.

I changed my comment. He’s going to be a very bad contract, maybe not Okposo bad, bud bad nonetheless

Touché

I am surprised to see the justifications for naming the player that fans begged to be bought out for years and couldn’t wait to get rid of….now be considered the leader and the right guy for the young players.

Short term/emotional memory will keep this 13 year merry-go-round spinning.

So who on the Sabres is ready, and don't say they don't need to name one, because that decision has been made. Think most would say Tuch. And Okposo isn't the only one with some Stank on them over the last few years. Okposo is respected in that locker room.

Why force an unnecessary hand? Instead it’s incentive for youth to chase. Why would the Sabres force themselves into committing to a captain while simultaneously not committing to anything else long term?

If I have to pick a player now it’s Tuch and it’s not close. It’s also stupid to pick one now while the entire roster has positions up for grabs.

Sabres should trade for someone with captain experience. Maybe a center? How about targeting Eichel?

Seems like the same process they went through in making Adams the GM

if they extend Okie to anything GMKA should be fired. you don't sign a clearly declining player just he can be the DAD on the team. he will be 35 by the end of the season, Hard Pass just to make him a captain. If anything I hope he retires and he could come on as a assistant coach or something like that.

Also, you don't need a C on your chest to be a leader. if you want to make him an "A" fine with me, Girgs, Okie,"A" Tuch "C"

We have NO Room on this roster for an aging player, we have too many talented players waiting in the wings.

Now if they are signing a Pat Kane that is a much different story.

Clearly declining? What did you watch last year

tage was top 8 for goal scoring centers
cozens and casey put up .5 ppg production

I do not consider that a 4 as they literally say only 3 teams are worse then us

2 number 1 overall D men do not make a 4 in any book, they have 3 teams again worse then us

I think 3's across the board aside from goaltending is the tier they should be ranked

- homiedclown

Can't beileve they have Detroit's goalies at a 2... They were not very good last year

Husso stunk up the joint in the p-offs. Nedel didn't even show up during the season
