Our California friend seems to be blowing it up. From what I’ve seen, agent just commented that negotiations not really moving. No biggie

I don't think the players have that much say in the way an agent goes about their business - especially not one as far down the totem pole as Sandin is.

My guess is someone went out of their way to ask Gross how things were going and he gave a candid but purposeful answer. I'm not sure how that does anything other than make people remember that Sandin exists. We haven't forgotten.

I think the message from Dubas is that they want Sandin, and they believe in him. They aren't moving other capable players out just so he can fit in, but if he wants somewhere that will guarantee him a top-4 role and pay him more than the $1.4m we want to give him, then he is going to have to find somewhere else to get it.

Or he can bloody well earn his place and his pay like everyone else.

I've been mostly unable to watch the US at the WJC - for some really strange reason TSN1 and TSN4 are not working out here in Cogeco-land, but TSN2, 3 and 5 are. They keep putting the US on TSN4. I even tried to login to TSN Live last night to stream it off their site, and was informed that the Service wasn't available after logging in.

. . . but while I'd noticed an absence of Knies, I read that in the Sweden game he was physically imposing and made a lot of things happen by using his size and physicality.

That was the only real moment I'd read much about him.
