Calgary is having a Philadelphia-level bad off-season lol
- hereticpride

Not really. Added two really good pieces. Obviously they are a bit older. Weegar is a solid add when he’s not your feature guy, clearly struggled as The Guy in Florida. They still have a really good window to win, I’d mark them as one of the favorites out of the west. And not for nothing, listening to JG on Chiclets, that guy could care less about winning.

The article also states that the Flyers were the team with the fourth highest number of fan respondents with over a 1000 respondents.

I'm surprised we were number 4....
I must not have read that part because I assumed we were the worst since we came in dead last in this article, and rightfully so. I've never seen the fans turn on this team this badly.. even 96 wasn't this bad

Weegar did not struggle at all in Florida. He was very good. Florida is going to miss him a lot.

While they're showing everyone of the hockey executive suite the door. Tell Ian Anderson and the new shiny hires to hit the pike also. He should've stayed with Jethro Tull. There is zero evidence that he has a clue of what he's doing.

He struggled as The Guy when Ekblad went down. It was extremely evident, almost everyone saw it except you. Go ask anyone who watched their games regularly, the entire hockeybuzz of Florida included (might be 6 people total lol). He’s a good add for Calgary.

Weegar's regular season stats

CF% 57.61% GF% 57.62% xGF% 57.27% SCF% 58.44%

Playoffs

CF% 61.60% GF% 53.33% xGF% 53.58% SCF% 59.06%

Weegar is a really, really good player. You saw a few plays, even incorrectly blaming him on a few plays. The numbers don't lie. He was very good overall. It's a huge loss for Florida.

Keep thinking that bud, you know it all. I guess the Florida writer and all the people that watch every game also know nothing. I never said he was a bad player but in classic MJL fashion you are pretending I said the guy stinks.

They don't need to replace senior advisors. They're not needed. Dean Lombardi can go also. I see no evidence that he is supplying the same level of competence he did when he was LA's GM. I've given my thoughts on Briere previously. I don' believe the organization would tolerate someone new not buying into the Flyer way. So if Briere isn't telling them that they're all clueless and they need to change. Then he's out also. No need to keep the status quo with just a different guy at the helm.
They need new blood across the board and don't keep anyone linked to the current regime.

With all of this being said who would you like to see come in and fix this franchise?

That I'm pretending that you said the guy stinks is a figment of your imagination. There is nothing in my post that suggests that. The facts speak for themselves. Those numbers are not the numbers of a player that struggled. That statement is not accurate.

What I would do is approach some of the people who are in subordinate positions to the GM or President of hockey operations on the quality teams in the league. Ask for permission to speak to them. Eric Tulsky in Carolina. Chris McFarland in Colorado. Stacy Roest in TB. People who have studied under the top GM's in the league and know the process of building a managing a team in the modern day NHL. Move the Flyers into the current times. I'm sure there are plenty of quality under the radar candidates out there. The Flyers don't just do a poor job of developing players. They also do a poor job of developing future coaches and hockey ops people.

You're definitely much more knowledgeable about the people to bring on board. Even though I don't know the names that you mentioned i do see the team that they're coming from and I'd be on board with all of them. You're right that they come from winning backgrounds and teams that are built to win.
Either way I hope that this is thw year that they take the trash out and they replace them with shiny new toys in the FO!
I do wonder what it's going to take to make those moves happen though.
how much more pain do we need to go through before we have a quality team on the ice again? It's time to clean house, imo

Yeah, I agree. If only the Flyers had this bad of an off season. They lost JG who really isn't a proven playoff performer and IMO soft when it gets physical come playoff time, and added a stud and a quality second line center along with a viable defenseman. They got 2 good pieces back for Tachuk(I did that on purpose). Not sure what that other dude is looking at unless he was being sarcastic.

They’re upset, but they haven’t abandoned them. Fans certainly don’t want to spend their dollars on the product right now, but they’re still very much paying attention.

Just look at this board. Gets more traffic than most of the teams regardless of it being a wasp nest.

If the team starts heading in the right direction, people will come around. They’re champing at the bit for good Flyers hockey.

Actually I'm not that knowledgeable about those guys. Just know that they've been understudies under top GM's for top teams. Bring in people that are from successful environments.

Was he "The Guy" when Ekblad went down? I don't think they had anybody on the roster that could replace Ekbland. The entire defense struggled once Ekbland went down.

Their D core is not deep at all, he was certainly The Guy. Go look at their roster man.

Cant speak much on the regular season. He did not have a good playoffs. Anyone who watched the games can see that. He is a good player. Had a bad series + is all.
