not every move always works out. kikuchi not working out doesnt really tell you much of anything tbh
trades for Ray and Stripling have worked out well.

- senstroll

In the same vein you can't point to two trades and say much from it either then. I'm not saying they haven't also made good moves because they have. I don't think their mentality to steer a championship team is there.

However, I do know Shatkins was upset with AA "emptying the cupboards" for the two runs we had with him. Shatkins had a chance to make some similar type moves this trade deadline to make a run and decided against it.

In Cleveland, the team that went to the championship was built on a foundation from Shapiro but somebody else put them over the edge to be that competitive. I don't think Shatkins is the team to do it here either.

Knies feels like a “ I told you so pick” by Dubas. Always getting criticized for drafting smart little forwards, knies is anything but intelligent, often making blind Hope plays to no one. Hes got the size and you can’t teach big but hopefully this kid can make a lot of improvement on and off the puck.

Nobody on team USA looked that great last night. The Czechs played very well and outworked them in every zone. I'm willing to wait and see how his college season goes before making any big judgements, at least we now know for sure that he made the right decision to stay in school rather than going pro.

I won't saddle the line and pretend to be happy if they make the playoffs. I don't think the current management team has the balls to make the moves to put the team over the top.

Kikuchi being paid $16 million this year because he would sign for multiple years kind of tells you what we need to know about the management team.

- Aaron_85

Kikuchi isn’t the problem with Jays. Getting crap from Berrios, Teo, Chapman, Bo and others is killing them.

Orioles need to lose. Jays need a series win but they just lost to the Orioles in a series. I do not have high hopes.

Not going to lie, I am kind of hoping they miss the playoffs so I can see what this management does/maybe gets fired.

- Aaron_85

While the Jays may have been overrated from the getgo, I wouldnt want them to miss the playoffs
That's some AA level hate.

I'm a bandwagon fan. I want to see better moves for the team. I know I'm in a minority. Is what it is.

It's not hate. It's that the team is in a place to have outgrown the current management team. Just like the reason they fired the manager.

Nope.
Tells you that sometimes FA's need to get an extra from the Jays in order to sign. Its happened before.
Although, I was never really impressed with the Kikuchi signing.
Also, they've pulled off some big trades...so do have the "balls" to do it.

this we can agree on (except Chapman). Blaming the 5th SP is like blaming the 6th defenceman.

They may not bring a championship here, who knows.
But I agree with them not trading our 4 top picks and Bo for 1.5 years of one guy.
Glad that didnt occur.
He would have not helped the pitching.

Montoyo wasnt the problem, although I didnt agree with several things he did.
The pitching hasnt been great.
Considering what theyve been through the past 2 years, I really dont think this management team is going anywhere right now.
Unless they really stink the joint up in the next month or so.

Well my son in law buys a used Honda 2001 - 4 wheeler for our oldest grand son. [age 11].

So far, old Grampie has installed new brake pads on the rear along with new hand cable as well as freeing the foot brake.

New pads on both left and right front, freeing up the frozen adjusters, cleaning two brake cylinders per wheel and the master cylinder replacement to boot . Did I mention the wheel bearings as well:

Still have to replace the swing arm bearings in the rear. {completely worn out}

Oh, the smile on the little guys face.

I will reserve judgement until they make it or not make it to the playoffs. If they miss two years in a row, I think it's a problem.

I agree with you that the manager wasn't the cause of things but the players seemed to not like him anymore so maybe it was more internal. But that's usually a reason to keep your job as a GM, to fire the manager.

If they make it then I have a bad read on the team

Well I assume Price is going on LTIR so that clears 10 million from the cap. Dach can be signed after the first day of the season if they wanted to be not give him a camp. Can he attend camp and pre-season without a contract?

If they don't want to LTIR Price to make it all work there's a number of guys who may want out. Hoffman, Savard both come to mind. Maybe looking to win or not be apart of a tank/rebuild.

Honest question: what's his status?

I don't think I've heard anything all summer.

Last I heard is that he expects to be playing this year. He had a cleanup on his knee and it is doing "very well". Is that real or just a press release? I have no idea. I think it was reported in June or so.

Just be careful.

Neighbours had a family (child) tragedy with a four-wheeler.

It was not a good scene.

Not neighbours, but a friend lost his daughter in a similar accident; it rolled in a ditch.

So. In a nutshell, this is Calgary:

In
Huberdeau
Weegar
Kadri
2025 lottery protected 1st

Out
Gaudreau
Tkachuk
Monahan
Gudbranson
Reported 1st to Montreal
2025/2026 4th

Their D gets better, but in some ways it doesn't get as better as just adding Weegar would do for most teams - because it was already excellent. Weegar makes them better - he's better than Gudbranson, for instance - and whichever role Weegar takes, the person playing those Gudbranson minutes will likely do a better job - and Weegar will probably be a bit of an improvement over whoever he replaces - but those incremental improvements (I expect Weegar displaces Kylington) won't be that Earth shattering because they were already very good.

Losing Tkachuk sucks. He's a better pest than most in the league, and he's physical, and he plays in areas where other people don't want to be. Tkachuk is like a dirty bumhole, and Kadri is, by comparison, like a sun bleached bumhole. You know. You still ask things like, "Why do you do that?" but it's for a different reason. I don't think Kadri situates in the dirty areas, but he'll go there. Kadri is more of a distributor than a shooter, and he is 32.

Losing Gaudreau really sucks. He's an engine. I really like Huberdeau as a distributor, but he's less of a carrier. Gaudreau was a zone exit and zone entry machine. They will miss that.

Overall Calgary did really well given their challenges, but they are a marginally worse team for it. And they lose a 1st round pick, apparently, in order to afford it.

Gee why does this sound so familiar.
