Really should be GoHu, but does not sound as good....

oh. personally I'd just give credit to Hughes, he's the GM, I find it's ridiculous to always name both lol

for Primeau's sake I'd keep Allen, his development has been (frank)ed up enough as it is. I might be the only one on the "keep Allen" bandwagon, but oh well lol

Im there too, if Price was back fine trade allen but now? Ride Allen and Montembeault this year that brought the wanted result last year, it will do this year

and depending how things pan out in front of him I have a feeling Montembeault could redeem himself enough to eventually become an interesting trading piece. he's better than his numbers might indicate imho.

of course, this year they go with Allen/Montembeault.
it's for next year we speculate

well, I guess if the habs received an insanely good offer for Allen's services they'd have to consider their options, but I doubt such a thing will happen, as reliable as he can be he's still considered as a solid backup goalie, not a #1.

I don't see Hughes trading Allen knowing Price is done. not before the tdl anyway.

oh me neither, like I said it would be in the context of an offer that is too good to not be at least considered, which would most likely happen at the tdl if it did.

well Allen's current worth to the habs might be higher than to another team, with Price now being out of the picture.

If you're plan is to be bad, take an asset or two and clear space

yeah but as I've said before if you want to develop young players properly and build their confidence it's preferable to have a goaltender that can be minimally relied upon, Allen's veteran presence is perfect because he can do that while not stealing too many games lol

yep, agreed. the plan may not be to be bad, but that will be the end result.
maybe if a team see their goalie suffer an injury... and come up with a really good offer... they'll trade him at the tdl. otherwise they'll keep him, maybe even extend him. imo

STL has confirmed that the goal will not be to make the playoffs but rather to develop players. it's kind of refreshing in a way compared to the old "let's make the playoffs and see what happens" discourse...

I guess we agree then, if they want Allen they'll have to pay up.

I’m a little gutted on Price…you don’t replace a superstar so easily…this is a huge loss if it’s the end of his career. His history with the Habs ensures his number is retired in the rafters. He’s been an absolute rockstar in the net. I wish him a recovery and hope he gets back for 2024

yeah there are probably better/cheaper options out there, but recently the goalie market seemed scarce, it only takes an injury here and there to have multiple teams on the look for one.

yup, really sucks for him if it ends like this. I wouldn't have minded seeing him raise the cup elsewhere before hanging his skates, except if it was in COL hahaa
