The knee is the most complex major joint in the body and while that complexity allows all people to move effectively in a variety of ways (when healthy), it also makes recovery from injury rather precarious, particularly for athletes (especially goalies). I’ve never been an athlete but I was born with defective knees over 50 years ago. The “wear and tear” became an issue for me around the age of twelve (I used to joke about envying Bobby Ore’s pre-op knees). Were I a few decades younger, some surgery right after I was born might have helped but it’s far too late now. I’ll likely need knee replacement surgery someday (though I’d rather not unless my mobility is significantly compromised, as I’ve long since adapted to the pain). At his stage of life, another surgery and lengthy rehab may pose more risks than offer rewards.

damn. sorry to hear about your knees. perhaps science and medical advances will at some point enable us to treat serious knee issues of this type more efficiently...

Almost two years without playing...seriously I doubt it.

We'll see if he gets surgery...that would be the last attempt at resuming his career in my opinion.
