You need to check facts.
Huberdeau was born June 4, 1993, and Gaudreau was born August 13, 1993
They are just 2 months apart in age, not a year. |

I've pointed this out on at least 3 previous articles. But he keeps repeating the same thing. On previous articles he even said almost EXACTLY one year apart. Pretty embarassing.
As for Calgary's "remarkable" turnaround...I think it merely highlights the benefits of cap management. Gaudreau walking opened up $10M+ of cap space that was earmarked for him. Tkachuk was another $10M+. Suddenly you have the flexibility to do a lot of different things. So you exploit Florida who needed some cap relief and couldn't sign both Huberdeau and Weegar to extensions. Then you sign a UFA like Kadri. That's an effective use of cap space. All those saying they lost Gaudreau for nothing tend to forget that in return they got $10M+ of valuable cap space. But let's start with getting the right ages before we go over anyone's head with analysis... |

As much as Tkachuk and Gaudreau did for the Flames, something about them coming back on long term deals seemed a bit daunting. They had a great year but their time in Calgary has been very up and down, with a whole lot of turnover. Not saying the new lineup is guaranteed to be better. but with Gaudearu/Tkachuk as centre pieces, this team never seemed to be able to put it together from season to season and I didn't see that changing had they signed long term. Hopefully this new lineup works well. |

Uhhh no. The Flames were already out kicking their coverage and they are now as good or worse, and each of the next 8 years they will get worse and worse all the way until they are a cash strapped bottom feeder like the Sharks.
I predict NO playoffs, but even at best they are a first round exit teAm. |

Effective use of cap space? You traded a first rounder along with monny (2 first rounders) for nothing. So you could sign a 32 year old 60 point player until he’s 40. Well done!

Kadri might be the most overrated signing of the millennium. Here are his last four seasons not including last years ridiculous outlier. 55, 44, 36, 32. Those are his point totals from the previous 4 seasons. Are you kidding me?? 7 years for that guy holy cow. |

Nurse is 27 years old and our best dman. Kadri is 32. Give your head a shake. We are paying for prime years. Y’all are paying a Kadri to grow old and retire. |

I’m not a flames fan. Oilers management is still the worst in the league. Taking shots at anyone else’s moves is hilarious. |

How are we the worst in the league? We locked up Connor and Drai for the primes of their career. We snagged Hyman and Campbell which will be huge. Kane coming in cheap for four years when he could have had millions more elsewhere. Meanwhile Tre signing these dinosaurs to 8 years and letting their best franchise player walk for free. You sure you aren’t a Flame fan because you have the stupidity of one. Also Holloway and Borogault > Cornato |

There's no recovery until the team produces results. "Good on paper" is all that's been accomplished. Helps that we have Sutter, but we're going in the right direction and the future is seemingly bright. |

Lol. Kane will revert to old Kane now that he’s got a long term deal. If you actually believe he could have gotten more elsewhere and didn’t take it you’re the dumb one. Campbell sucks. D got worse. Oilers got lucky last year with a weak division and a team that imploded in round two. They’ll be lucky to win one round this year if they even make the playoffs. |

They have not proved anything yet The season has not started yet Kadri is over rated Wait and see His wallet is now padded and he will be a bust in Calgary |

Kane will revert, oilers got lucky, oilers suck, oilers won’t make playoff. The only player that will be reverting is Kadri to his normal 35 point self. Lol conversation over. 0 IQ. |

We’ll see. Kenny was very close to getting fired until he lucked into getting Kane for next to nothing which allowed them to outscore some issues. They won’t have that luxury this year. |

You're making a mountain out of a mole hill. If Kadri gets bought out in his final two years, there's a cap hit of only $2.3m over 4 years. Manageable. Monahan's $6.4m required a 1st rounder, but with Kadria one option is to retain 50% and send a 2nd rounder and have a cap hit of $3.5m over 2-3 years.

As for Huberdeau, so far I'm impressed by how well he's handled everything and how classy he's been. I wouldn't be completely surprised if he decides to retire a year early at most, but honestly by that time Calgary just might be in a rebuild so who cares if we have him plus 1-2 top 10 ELC players on the roster?
Both could become LTIR assets potentially, but I'm hoping for Huberdeau's best Lemieux impression..
The biggest thing is we have many contracts at $4.5m for good players, in a time where similar players get signed for $6.5-11m/yr. So we have to take advantage of that.
(It would be great to hear Murray Edwards' (Flames owner, CNRL owner) thought process after losing Gaudreau/Tkachuk - seems like he's eager to teach both of them a lesson) |

Yes they will. Woodcroft will have us firing on all cylinders. Add some average/stable goaltending and we are better then last year. |

How do you not see the Flames making the playoffs in the weakest division in the league? They are missing some fire power on wing. But are doing great at "D" and tending. Honestly it looks like a great experiment in the Flames ("D" tending) -vs- the Oilers(straight up offense) I personally look forward to seeing which strategy works the best. |

Lets call it how it is....Calgary salvaged a near-term issue with offensive production from their losses with throwing away dinero in the next couple of years. They signed Huby and Kadri to some contracts that will be horrendous 3 years from now, but the manager is not getting paid now to look at what the team could look like down the road despite a likely higher cap. Management did a good job getting the assets from Florida for the near term but taking a step back it seemed fair for what FL was not going to pay Huby at 10.5m starting a year from now. How old was Tampa's.....whats his name? .....oh yes Lecavaileir. Weager...good player but not worth the $7.5m he is try to get. Kadri...32 from a cup winning team with those linemates getting that kwan with those historical stats??! Maybe they can put up a couple of respectiful years....but seriously Clark. Not making the mistake of betting on them again this year in Vegas to win with Cup. |
