They traded Monahan and a first for $6.5 million in cap space. Doesn't matter where Mony was drafted, 8 surgeries later, he's done. Kadri has always been a very valuable player. Yes, he's 32 and it might end up being a bad contract in a few years but right now, he's what the team most needs..a 2nd line center.

The Habs still got a first round pick for nothing... It doesn't matter for the Habs if Monahan is good or bad this year. Worst case scenario is that he's bad or injured. but he'll be gone next year. Best case scenario is that he's good and traded at the deadline for more assets, or becomes the second C we've been looking for.

All that for... nothing...

Not for nothing. They ate a bad contract and got a first for it. Not a bad trade for the habs to get something for their cap space.
