Pretty remarkable that the Flames lost two of their best players and may wind up better for it. I honestly didn’t want Kadri at that price for the islanders but for the flames in the here and now you have a legit contender of a team. Flames are going for it I love it. Treliving deserves a ton of credit for turning around a really bad situation. He’ll be up for GM of the year imo.

We’ll do a deep dive pretty soon here on Milano, but he’s a playmaker when he has the space. Most of the goals he puts in himself come from in-tight to the net.

It’s popular to knock his two-way game, but there’s reason to question that criticism on a statistics basis. Need to look through a bit of game tape.

Edit: Yeah. He’s not great in his own end.

I still like the idea of adding Evan Rodrigues onto the RW. 19 goals last year in Pittsburgh.

Move a D-Man to make some extra cap space. Valimaki is pointless. I don't see him pushing out any of the 6 ahead of him, and Mackey or Meloche are better value as the 7th D-Man.

Then run:
Huberdeau / Lindholm / Toffoli
Mangiapane / Kadri / Rodrigues
Dube (or maybe Pelletier) / Backlund / Coleman
Lucic / Rooney / Lewis / Ruzicka (some combo there depending on the game)

Hanafin / Andersson

Mackey or Meloche as the 7th

What about tossing Ruzicka on third-line LW?

He is more than a 4th line grinder and could learn the defensive game from Backlund. Toss Dube on that line, and there is a good mix of grit, size, and finesse.

Way too early to be slotting in Pelletier. Not impossible, but make the kid earn it.

I think Mange regresses this year, I think Dube finds his game.

I am really interested to see what my Weeger brings.
