I bet you if you polled 100 NHL players who have scored 100 points in a season, and asked them if they would consider a player who scored 99 as one of the 100 point guys, all 100 of those players would tell you to go (frank) yourself.
That’s a significant milestone that not that many people achieve, and there is a lot of pride by those who did. - 1970vintage
Its a good point, i think youre right about that. I just think in the context of saying how good a player played 99 and 100 points arent much different. Certainly not all this winging
Well before it got off the rails here, I was actually going to say thanks Carol ... good post on world juniors.
I do respectfully disagree about Canada's effort in spite of all the distraction though. True to a degree, but I think the lack of Russians really paved the way for them. The ruskies (politics aside) are a real powerhouse these days. No longer just fancy forwards, but great D and leading the way in goaltending imho. I really can't believe MTL let go of Romanov after getting shafted on Sergachev, who might have been one of their worst trades of late. Honestly these days if TBay inquires about one of your players, that should be taken as a sign to not trade them anywhere. Swedes, Czech, Finns have elite talent no doubt, but not the depth for a full roster like the USA, RUS & CAN - they're almost at a different tier these days.
Some of those Canada boys really looked like they belonged in another league (as they would have been had it been held in normal time). I watched most of gold medal and the score or shots didn't really reflect play. I think Canada was guilty of being too fancy and Finland did their thing, relied on their goalie and hung on - credit to them.
