you just don't get it, pete. these players are all layers, and together they form a great winning lasagna.

Speaking of Caufield...

I hope he follows his buddy's idea

Not that I like throwing flowers at the Leafs but when Nylander changed his number (from 29 to 88) the guy offered to pay for whoever bought a #29 jersey and wanted to update it to #88.

I thought it was a pretty cool thing to do.

I would never buy a rookie's jersey. They often change their numbers after they become more "established"

heard that Drouin said his wrist will never be the same, that he has to adjust his game accordingly. Not looking good for him if he can't shoot the puck.

not quite the same injury, Dach had a broken wrist (a bad one) and Drouin was a severe sprain wrist that needed two surgeries but Dach says he has recovered from it. Habs took a big risk trading for him, hoping with the right coaching and be used in a position where he can work on his game, he can improve. Dach is 21, drafted the same year as Caufield, missed most of a season because of his injury at the WJC in 2019.

The good part for him is MTL is expected to suck this year, Mgmt already came out to say this is a year focused on development, not winning at all cost.

also, another difference with Drouin is that Dach won't be offered a 5x5M kind of deal, it will most likely be over 2 years at maybe 2M per, which represents a much better situation for the habs if he ever doesn't pan out.

have you seen Dach's wrist though when he got injured..? it was pretty nasty, to the point where it makes you wonder if it would permanently affect his game.

I had not noticed

...but there were a lot of people who showed up at the draft with 51 Wright Habs jerseys. I saw even one guy who was pissed and threw his off the balcony during the draft

yeah, I am sure the Habs asked for his medical file before making the trade to see what was the result of his accident and the long term impact. Let's see what they say at the rookie camp after the medical. No way you make that trade without doing due diligence on his wrist first.
