I'm not concerned about his confidence - it's the workload - it's going to be heavy in terms of games played as well as how taxing each individual game will be - he's going to face a lot of high quality shots - Scoob

Well. It’s different since he will be on ltir. Funny a few weeks ago you were stating how great Vinny was and how his contract was fair and worth it basically.
The contract hurts but isn’t as obstructive as umberger.
Was a SS bros quote that didn’t work. - Peter Richards
Getting a bad player in Rj Umberger with 3 seasons remaining at a cap of 4.5 million (I believe), makes those seasons very long, very slow. One season of which, we had to buyout.
I know…it was an awful deal. You’re too slow to figure out why. - SuperSchennBros
It was an awful deal…this is why you can’t have conversations with people on here, you can’t go past a surface level statement. The Flyers knew they were getting back a lesser player.

Which is why they shouldn’t have made that deal but that’s not what this conversation is about. It’s about learning from your mistakes, which is why I listed the players I did.
Ellis, not a bad player but entering his 30’s, large cap it with multiple seasons. Umberger, was a bad player, large cap hit with multiple seasons. It’s just a waste even if the long game is two or three years down the road. This willingness to take on questionable contracts with questionable players is a lesson not learned with the Flyers.

They were two totally different scenarios, I’m done here.

This isn’t a hindsight argument. There were always red flags surrounding Ellis long before the trigger was pulled. Same as Umberger. Same as the other players I named, with the exception of Pronger who was a freak accident.

More remarkable is the fact that the Flyers chose Patrick when there were so many gifted players selected after him. The CHL/OHL definitely has instilled a favoritism and biased take on talent.
My brave prediction ... chuck is the first GM to get fired this season - Bob Habib
Speaking of a guy getting a ton of praise. I don’t think the moves Carolina made put them over the top, they’re stuck in the same place. Unless guys like Aho and Svechnikov can raise their games in the playoffs they are going nowhere again. And Patches already out long term.

Kind of true. I'm not sure any of the guys they have acquired are upgrades to what departed and I'd say they've certainly lost some speed. Patches is officially becoming injury prone, so who knows what they will get out of him when he comes back from that injury.

Carolina is going to be in the mix for the east. No doubt.
