I think we have to look around and evaluate the chances this team takes a significant step forward with their 9th place finish last season.
In my book, Ottawa and Detroit finished below the Sabres by 2 and 1 pt respectfully, and added quite a bit of veteran talent to their team, combined with young players who should also grow.
Conversely, I don't see any team that finished higher in the East last season that is poised to take the required slide backwards enough to finish lower.
In the West, SJS probably slides back and maybe Winnipeg folds enough as well. The rest probably stays relatively the same.
So, two puts and two takes. I'd say finishing 9 or 10th again is more likely than not.
Up or down a spot or two is certainly fathomable; so bottom 12 -> 8 is what I suspect.
The real point however is how the young guys play. As 36 mentioned, if it is on the G's again ... that is "better" than if the young guys poop the bed.
took pretty significant steps forward - IonSabres
I agree it’s better if the goalies are the reason while the skaters improve. The problem that Adams thinks he can verbally repeat and it’ll go away is that rostered talented players will want out.
The hope built on the late entertaining run to 9th place last season will only temporarily hide the ugly 12 year history.
The struggle to find players who want to be here will grow, the problem retaining these players the organization has invested NHL seasons in to evaluate will jump ship and boss will be the only one left in the arena. |

I assume the Bill's have more information available to them. Would be interesting to know what it is.
Of paramount importance, to me anyway is what he knew and did related to the gang rape portion. If he participated and she was unwilling...then the worst punishment isn't strong enough. If he did not know, nor contribute...I stand with my position and call the Bill's cowards for not supporting him against unjust accusations. - IonSabres

Continue to puff you chest out that as of NOW, he's been run out of town by the media and fan's overreaction to a narrative heard from just one side.
You obviously dont agree with Due Process, facts, and innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
It is a great side you are on, until it turns against you, then you'll be yelling and screaming.
Let it play out. No harm, no foul. |

Absolutely no doubt.
It is interesting to over react by position group.
Punter, meh fvck him.
Starting WR, QB, S, CB, LB, C, RT?...oh hell no!
Wonder who holds for FG's. They need to find a guy quick. |

Beane said yesterday more information came out to them in the last 48 hours, it's why they waited.
It's pretty clear at best case he had sex with a minor. You can argue he didn't know her age and such, but the rest of the allegations are really messed up. It sounds like Matt lied to the team originally about what was really going on...

The Buffalo Bills are not the law people need to get that straight they could give two poops about innocent until proven guilty. The main goal of the Buffalo Bills is to make money they are a business Araiza being on the team hurts that just like if it was me or you or anybody else in this position if the company found that having us employed hurt their bottom line we would be fired
The bills were in a lose lose lose scenario and it sounds like according to both McDermott and Bean Ariza did not tell them the whole story.
Cut him now take your lumps focus on football

I heard he lied, that's why McDermott was really caught of guard in his Press Conference. |

Good Post!! Once this broke there was no chance he made it through the weekend. The Bill's have a huge female following. |

Few things, there was a roster freeze when the plane left Buffalo on Thursday so they couldn't cut him right then and there.
From what I am hearing, he wasn't fully truthful to the team in July, but I will say the Bills really couldn't have done more once they found, but I find it funny people are saying the Bills knew at the draft (they didn't) and saying they should have done more investigating in July when they found out like it's public record or something. The Bills are a football team, not a police force, what sort of investigation do you expect them to conduct? I'd expect them to call the school (the school which sounds like was covering it up), the police (which all they can say is there is an ongoing investigation and that's it) and they talked to the victims attorney, but at that point there was no lawsuit filed, and that is only one side. They talked to Matt and went from there.
You can say they shouldn't have given him the job which is a valid argument, but until they actually saw the full lawsuit and whatever he fessed up to the team once it came out, there wasn't much to go on at that time.

Well if they expect to draft someone I would think they have the capability to do a Criminal Background Check on these guys. So if they really did look at him it wouldn't have been hard to find there was a open case file on him. |

Modern Professional sports should be at the point of having an entire PR team scrubbing the internet for info on every player they scout, let alone the ones they draft.
It’s inexcusable in the social media age to have not done a simple google search on a player they intend to draft. |

There isn't/wasn't a case opened against him at that time though.
It's an investigation, and until he is formally charged nothing would show up.
It happens all the time, for example a coach is under investigation for abusing a kid but does his background check before he is charged, nothing shows up on his background check at that time. |

let's say he never gets charged criminally and he wins the civil lawsuit
who does he sue for lost wages?
the bills?
her?
her lawyer?
if he is not guilty someone cost him some money

He sues her, you can't sue the Bills, NFL contracts aren't guaranteed, they can cut a player for anything.
