Not hearing much from the nay-sayers on Adam's locking Tage up early to a long-term contract.
All summer this has been referred to a a watershed type signing that those in the group did not feel Adams would get done....but here we are, and crickets.

Haters gonna hate I guess.

I don’t love it. It’s still risky in my eyes. I would’ve liked 2 years of tage proving himself.

Even if we paid him 8 mill a year … 1 mill more. I would’ve gladly paid him more

Think you guys are sleeping on tall man timber. Think we have our joe thorton light but tage can actually score goals. Theres noone else in the league that has his tools with his skill set.

Yea after watching him the first few years as a sabre i get the hesitation but theres no way last season was a fluke. Dude played really solid hockey that i would not consider just getting lucky bounces.

At worst a high end 2nd line center if one of these young kids can take the 1st line center duties from him in a few years. Think tage hits 30g40a this year barring injury.

If you waited another year and he scores 40 then you're screwed, he can say pay me $9-10 million long term or the most I will sign is 1 year and then he could walk in Free Agency.

It's a very risky contract for a guy with only one years worth of production.

Oh I agree. But I wasn't in the group calling for Adams to take action this offseason and lamenting that he wouldn't...absolutely blasting him

Those that did are now suddenly quiet.

Sure, I do understand that risk....to get $9.5/$10m he would have to climb higher than just achieving 40 G's, but rather something more akin to 40/50/90...IMO. So, we are more likely to have seen a $8.0-$8.5m.
Also, there is also risk that he regresses as well....making $7.0m an overpayment.

Point is it cuts both ways. It probably is worth the risk to extend him now. I'M ok with it, but It isn't a complete slam dunk either.

How about this to simplify:

7mil is the new 4mil

The market was set before we signed Tallness.

Let me ask this, would anyone here let him walk to save 2 years or 1-1.5 mil per?
Just curious
