Given there is a limited number of contracts you can retain money on, I can see HugGo retaining money on an expiring contract to facilitate a 3-way trade for a contender at the deadline

Getting something in return for that is more likely to happen (and get a better asset) than trading one of his poop expiring contracts the Habs have..
