I’d feel even more better if they parlayed Mitts + into a dependable 200 foot Centre.
Cozens will mature into that role but we need another one. - Pegullaville

I’d rather make a long term bet with a homegrown player with term that covers the majority of his prime then a UFA whose best years are behind him.
Does Tage shoot 15% again next year ? Probably not.
If he shoots closer to 10%, we are still looking at a guy who will score ~ 30 goals and should improve his defensive game as he matures into the position.
Slight overpay as of today, but will be just right as we go along as AAV’s will continue to rise.
Worth it in my eyes - Pegullaville

Doesn’t look like it will happen prior to next offseason, but I could be wrong |

“Good” teams are good because they choose the right players to do it with. Sometimes NOT doing it is the right choice. We’ll see here… |

The Tage deal means some guys won’t be getting paid, Most likely Mitts |

Well you don't say, that's what you hope for. It's not like they have a Chrystal ball telling them it will work. Most all say "Will See" |

Mitts has done very little to suggest he should be paid. He's paid nearly double what Tage will make next year. |

Tage is unlikely to ever be good defensively
Dude doesn’t skate well enough
We aren’t gonna get a lot else from him besides putting the puck in the net…. which is fine….
as long as he keeps up the scoring |

That is my fear. I would have let him prove it for another year. I know it is taking a chance he has a better year. But if he regresses, this will suck. |

I view him as a number 2 center and given all our centers in the pipeline it's realistic to think 1 will leap frog him
I don't think 7 per is out of line for a long term center locked up for second line
this is assuming he can put up 55 points if dropped to second team pp of course |

Could be, but even if he dropped to 50-55pts a year, this could be a good deal in a few years the way contracts are rising. Guys out there right now making 5m a year for 30-35pts |

Hopefully, this is a big season for this new core. Hopefully they all grow and earn those investments. |
