You can’t blame botts for Portillo and Johnson not coming over from college. Come on. You are saying that to fit your narrative
Botts first draft. He had like a month or less to prepare. He didn’t know the scouts. Front off and he came over probly only knowing jack Eichels name. Maybe Sam and Risto.
Drafts take years to prepare for - Sabretooth9
It sucks Johnson and Portillo may leave, that had the possibility to be an incredible draft class considering Huglen, Cederqvist, and Rousek all look intriguing as late round guys |

Goaltending is the only concerning area for me.
Defense is gonna be young and make some mistakes, but score some points.
Forwards are gonna roll out 4 solid lines of actual hockey players. Donnie is gonna whisper in cozens ear about playing solid 2c.
What's your points prediction? - Boss34
Fake .500 has to be the expectation. If they don't hit 75 again, jobs could be on the line.

That is a risk with college guys. So yes, he made the picks and is partly to blame. |

Give me Cozens over Zegras all day.
what could Cozens have done with Milano on his wing and the TOI usage and PP opportunity Zegras had ?
Not to mention the value Cozens will bring defensively - Pegullaville
I would say 61 pts in a rookie season is pretty solid for Zegras |

does botts get any credit for getting tage for ror?
everyone wanted thomas - homiedclown
Trade was a disaster at the time. We were trying to build a team and he went into another rebuild, mid build.
Luckily Thompson will salvage that trade |

Botterill’s drafts were disasters imo
The 17 draft with Mitts, UPL and Davidson all high picks have been big busts up to date. He hit a bottom pair guy in the 4th rd in Bryson but all in all that draft is a D- grade
2018 he hit on Dahlin and Samuelson. Solid first two picks but Dahlin was an easy one. Rest of draft absolutely nothing. B-
2019 Cozens looks good but passed up Zegras who looks like a star. Johnson was a big miss up to this point (most likely won’t sign) same with Portillo. Another D
To think he had good drafts is laughable. - Fattony1187
Weird to say when quite a few of these players are from the Botts era. |

Hell. Even if he was 6 ft. Or 5’11.
He would’ve probly stayed a top 3 pick
Cale Makar grew a couple inches in college.
Maybe Savoie can too lol - Sabretooth9
Danny Brierre did just fine at 5,9" -174lbs, so does Brad Marchand at 5'9"- 181lbs, as does Johhny Hockey at 5'9" - 165lbs...all highly successful L1 players.
Savoie should be able as well at 5'9" - 175lbs. |

By now, we should be reading new blogs every other day about the projected roster, player by player.
WTF is Eklund doing not hiring someone who has the time to write on a more regular basis?
No shot at Hank, he continues to turn out quality articles no doubt, but he made it clear he doesn't have the time to do so every couple days. Wtf Ek. |

I’m a savoie fan and wanted him. I was just saying if he was a little taller. His draft stock would’ve been higher |

Sabres would need to finish below 70 points IMO for another management change.
Like you said , Injuries could be a concern.
I'd think less of a concern than most nhl teams though.
We're young and healthy currently.
Excluding Anderson |

Didn't they fire some of the training staff, along with JB? Injuries have been an issue for a few years now. This year, there's not much in Roch to call up.
If they don't improve on 75, I'd expect some change. Doesn't necessarily have to be at the top.

Me too, he was the guy I wanted ... be glad he is 5'9"...as you pointed out, he would not be a Sabre. |

I respect your opinion
I was just reading a mike Harrington article about season tickets being up 20%.
Mini packs and 1/2 seat sales are very popular.
Actually have some optimism around town.
Most excited I've been in an offseason since they drafted eichel/ traded for ror and ek9. |

roll with it
he is selling sabres optimism today
side note sabres projected around 8,000 season tickets for 2022-23, half of what they had in 16-17
good vibes though |

I'm not expecting or predicting it to go bad, just too much recent experience to see how it could.
This doesn't come close to Eichel excitement for me. That would be tough to match. Think I'm more excited for the next crop of prospects than the current, when they should be in a better position to succeed.

I would say 61 pts in a rookie season is pretty solid for Zegras - Fattony1187
It is quite good, but the usage comparison still applies.
One can argue Milano drove the line too considering his underlyings (weird he is still unsigned tbh).
Zegras will be the better point producer, but if Cozens’ point totals improve as we think they can and he backs it up defensively, give me the 200 foot player imo.
Just my opinion, fair to disagree. Both will be solid NHL’ers. |

Yeah, I would read your Sabres related blog....
In dept, precision posting most of the time.
Realistically, a blog or 2 a week would be adequate. |

I think this young team suprises you next season.
The past teams do not affect/ reflect on this team.
I'm pretty excited about dahlin, tage, tuch , samuelsson, power and girgensons 🙂 |

He has that motor and he's really sound on the puck sturdy, I am excited to see him. Think Kulich was a steal to. |
