I am dreading the thought that she doesn't continue on, and we end up with James Tanner, or someone as bad as that. - Reubenkincade

Carol will be joining the Hockey News this fall. Not sure if she will still be blogging here.
More to come... - VanHockeyGuy
Wow that would suck if we lost Carol she's is the best on here. But would also wish her the best in her new journeys.
My vote goes to my boy Nucker to take over if need be.

It’s getting better. They’ve improved it quite a bit and still making improvements. Nice new little airport. Lots of nice new suburbs. It used to be much worse. I’d rate it ahead of Regina now though.
Edit: and Red deer isn’t a great place either. - TurdFergeson
Yes and No. Maybe slowly as I haven't spent much time there but man I could not believe the amount of maintenance that doesn't get done. Basic stuff like mowing lawns and curb repairs. Worst roads and system I have even seen in Canada so far. And I thought Regina was the worst this is a new level of garbage in WPG dude. Sure there are the 'Common' areas where the burbs and stores are nice and stuff...but that downtown core was outright embarrassing. I thought Red Deer had a homeless problem it pales compared to WPG but having said that RD is 110,000 and WPG is 750,000 so differences there.
And all this beautiful buildings in the downtown and just off the downtown core. Half of then are closed and boarded up. Zero maintenance. Sure the Covid thingy mattered but man...sad. Thought I was in East Hastings for most of the drives through downtown lol
But yes Red Deer needs work agreed. I work for the City and as a representative I am often embarrassed at some of the sh!t that goes on here and what the City spends money on. A large part of it is the younger generations of today have college or University educations...but have no clue how to supervise staff or run infrastructure money or budgets for that matter. They are put into positions because of the 'educations' but have no clue what is involved in running a city or their own departments. But that's another topic altogether. It's a bad trend we are seeing here. |

Tanner wouldn't last here. We'd eat him f ucking alive. He's just good for the odd music recommendation.
Remember, this is the guy that said publicly that OEL was a way better player than John Tavares in his prime overall. |

Don't ever ever ever go to Winnipeg. Place is an absolute sh!thole. I now understand why NHL players don't want to be there. Utter disbelief at how that city is maintained in a province with provincial taxes. Fucking embarrassing for one of Canada's oldest cities. - LordHumungous
I've been multiple times and I'm sure I'll be there again one day. It's not a great destination, neither is Edmonton. |

For sure Edmonton needs work too but it's river valley is quite nice better than Calgary IMO. But Calgary downtown is way nicer than EDM. Both big Alberta cities have plusses and minuses. But EDM is nowhere close to the sh!thole that WPG is...not even close IMO.

Well I go there once in a while for work… but yeah not sure why you’d “visit”? |

lol good question. MY GF's parents both passed away within 6 months. Rough times for her and us all. They lived in Emerson south Mantioba down by the border it was just easier to coordinate everything from Winnipeg regarding the services and such. Her Dad's service was last Saturday and it was very well done. But hard times for her for sure. I'm glad I saw Winnipeg and am very grateful for certain things on the trip I got to finally spread my Mom's ashes in WPG beach where she grew up. Lake Country up north Manitoba is beautiful. Reminded me a bit of Comox when I was living on the Island minus the dingy salt water smell lol. And the Bomber/Stamps gave was great. Plus we toured the CDN Mint which was pretty cool. All in all a good trip. |

Mikheyev is McDavid fast almost and has instantly become the Nucks fastest skater. Gonna be fun to watch him here. Leafs fans at work were horrified he is gone they loved him there. Good for us. |

An old school friend, who now lives in Toronto and has a partnership on seasons tickets, gets about 10 games per year of the Leafs, says the guy is sneaky fast and isn't afraid to get sneaky chippy.
He hates the Leafs, but loves hockey, so he enjoys cheering for the other team, says it is great. Lol.
He also says the Canucks got themselves a real nice player that can play up and down the lineup. |
