Jake didn't want to play here any longer, that is a FACT. He needed to be moved and he was. Fletcher in this instance did a nice job in getting a good player back with less overall cap hit. And I would still rather have Atkinson on my team than Jake, the only way I get a shot on goal is when I pass the puck to the opposing goalie, Voracek!
- jd250

No, Voracek did not have to be moved. Voracek finished 13th in the league in assists among forwards so obviously, his play resulted in not only shots on net but plenty of goals. This is an example of how you continually embarrass yourself.

Not what I said.

Of course it’s not🙄

It’s a simple thing you’re either of the opinion they did the right thing (fact) signed 8 years at almost 30 when contract starts

Or

You’re of the opinion they should’ve traded him for assets.

There is no in between or room for mjl fodder.

It matters because it’s the mindset of the fan base that allows the team to think they can continue this path and still get the support.

But you won’t pick.

Because you’ve died on the wrong hill over and over by defending the coots player and contract.

And you are wrong as any sane person that watches hockey knows.
Coots is a nice player to have and his contract you can absolutely not give him.

Same as simmer when they moved him.

But I’ll play. Pick your side

You know what, I would be a top assist guy too if I all I had to do is pass the puck to Laine on the power-play! He talks about Jake being better than Atkinson on the PP, yet last season who did Atkinson have to work with on the PP?? If he wants to die on the Jake Voracek hill, I am happy to watch him do so
- jd250

You still don't have the self awareness to realize that every "debate" between you and I turns out the same way. With me being correct and you looking foolish.

Laine playing for Columbus had 5 PPG last year.

JVR last year playing for the Flyers had 9 PPG.

There goes that argument.

All of Jake's deficiencies more than trump his play making abilities.
- jd250

Exactly. If I never have to see him fumble the puck away on pp on half wall I’ll die a happy man.

Oh wait…😂😂😂

You seem to be of some delusion that the outcome of the Couturier re-signing has already been determined. Is this ability to look into the future, the same as your ability to claim that Gaudreau signing with the Flyers was a done deal?

Of course there are different ways to look at the move. Both have merit.

You also don't seem to have the intelligence to understand that I have already offered an opinion. Now you can have an opinion that I'm wrong but you cannot have your own facts that I am. An absurd fallacy of any sane person who watched hockey knows does not help you.

Go through all the elite Jake assist. Give us who scored from them and where. That’ll keep you busy for awhile

Laughable on so many levels. We know the outcome of his deal. We have decades of examples of players stats.

Nevermind. Maybe you’re right. Coots is the Brady of the nhl. He’ll play at high level FOREVER. so what you’re saying is you won’t pick and you’ll defend the coots deal regardless forever.

Oh oh oh okay that’s your proof. You really are not smart. So you’re saying there couldn’t have been a done deal between 2 different party’s? She was lying and I am horrible because I passed along what I was told.

Your “proof” that there wasn’t a done deal is he signed in Columbus.

Hilarious how unintelligent you actually are

Sorry but 30 going into 8 year contract is as bad as it gets.

Unless that’s for bonafide superstar surefire hall of fame player.

Which coots isn’t

In cap world you just can’t do it. The negatives almost always will outweigh the positives.

As far as provy goes they put themselves in that position. They had no flexibility to make a move really even if they wanted too.

Unfortunately this team continues on same path. Those that have followed team for decades see this. At some point you just have to call a spade a spade.

Purge needed.

Retire all the past.

The funny thing is they hang on to past to try to sell and profit when so much more could be made by turning new leaf.

Rebrand this damn team already.

We’ve been paying Couturier peanuts to play the most minutes of all the forwards most of his career. The problem with most fans is, you wanna pay these guys half of what they’re worth and once payday comes, act like they don’t deserve it.

The players are paid for what they’ve done, not what they’re going to do.

So let me guess here. Just spit balling

Flyers have what they thought was “done deal” in lindros trade

Wait for it…. Oh lookie here rangers also have “done deal”

Lookie there 2 “done deals” from 2 different party’s.

“Done deal” as it was explained you twit by jg wife was he and flyers agreed to deal. She said it was done deal. Because it was a done deal they agreed to terms. Just because it didn’t get signed or go through doesn’t mean it wasn’t a done deal.

Isn’t that changing? And smartly. Those that stick to old model will be left in the dust no?

No your value. Coots gambled on team friendly contract. Flyers definitely benefited. That’s on the player.

And good for coots for getting his latest contract. Me personally would never begrudge a player for getting the bag. Just get it elsewhere at that point.

Cant use past practice knowing how badly it ends as means to justify it. Not saying you are. But that is basically what the practice and model has been. In a decade you won’t see it anymore. poop maybe even less than decade.

The contracts given to approaching 30 like coots will be the outlier not the norm.

It’s a young mans game. They know the prime isn’t 27/32 anymore it’s more 24-29.
That’s where they SHOULD get the big deal.

If you play cards right you can max 2 contracts. Look at Matthews.

Teams that don’t pay these older out of prime players huge money will be able to sign players like Matthews big money to put them over the top if they have close to cup team with young talent. That’s the future.

It’s really gotta be turn a good portion of roster over like every 3/4 years now. That’s the window. It’s no longer that 6/8 years.

In other words, if you were GM, nobody would play for your organization. Couturier isn’t a kid anymore, he’s a man. This post is way too long.

The Canucks just signed 29 year old JT Miller to a 7 year deal with an 8M cap hit. What are they doing! Teams just don't do that!

Voracek is still an elite playmaking forward in the league. He ranked 13th in the league in assists among NHL forwards.

Pretty much every team in the NHL does that.
