Then Robertson would have a beef ... if he's that kind of player. I think he'll wait his turn and, hopefully, he won't have too long to wait. There's nothing wrong with having too many good prospects -- if they pan out -- maybe it's Lundkvist's fault for not outplaying Schneider. No matter, his trade request doesn't diminish his value. His level of play in Hartford will determine his value. - dashripdot
Lundkvist for Sandin makes absolutely no sense for Rangers, the Leafs have contract problems with Sandin, he wants to be paid already, Rangers in no position to do that and they have Jones and Robertson competing for that spot

I think the biggest problem with all these guys is that they make more money in Europe than they do in the AHL - jimbro83
Good point, also playing in a pro league as well. |

From all accounts its not about $ with Sandin. It’s about playing time. Leafs have Rielly, Muzzin, Gio on the left making it impossible for him to crack the lineup unless there is injury or he agrees to play on RD. I think he can easily slot into NYR’s 3rd RD slot and even push for higher if he stays healthy.
It’s on the leafs side that things remain murky for Lundkvist. Leafs have Brodie, Holl, and Liljegren …unless Dubas moves Holl.

I predict Lundkvist gets traded for picks or a young forward on a team with a lot of forward prospect depth

Lundkvist and a third/second for Gabe Vilardi or Kupari. |

Nils should come to camp, play his tail off in Hartford and make it easier to trade him. this way, the Rangers could move him to chicago mid year and get Kane |

interesting about Claude Lemieux being Lundkvist's agent, when Brendan Lemieux asked to be traded, Claude facilitated that trade to Los Angeles, so they do have some history of this situation getting done

I wish I could find all my posts from last year saying we should have traded him while the iron was hot.
Now we get what we get. - aecliptic
Don't worry. They are permanently burned into our memories anyway.

Sure makes you question asset management within the organization. - airjan23
I don't think this is totally fair, Jan.
If Drury had pulled the trigger on a trade for Lundkvist last year while we were looking like a playoff appearance was locked up and one of our LD got hurt, everyone would be criticizing his lack of foresight when we ended up playing Hajek. Throw in a late round pick and we should still get a fair return for a capable, young, puck-moving, PP-specializing defenseman. IMO. |

Until we see what the Rangers actually trade Nils for, seems kind of like a waste of time to criticize. What if he pulls off a solid trade. This is the problem when you rebuild and have too many assets and not enough spots. A few are going to fall through the cracks potentially. |

and if it was all veterans from other teams that were blocking Lundkvist, it would be different
the guys blocking Nils are home grown Ranger drafts picks: K'andre Miller, Zac Jones, Braden Schneider and Matthew Robertson
people jump the gun on the Rangers "always fail at prospects" stuff

It's also getting annoying all these prospects demanding trades when they don't make the team right away. Don't mind trading them anyway lol |

Something around Lundkvist for Dellandrea seems plausible to me. |

LA is probably the last team to send him to given their RD depth is absurd with Doughty, Roy, Walker, Durzi, Spence, Clarke, and Grans. |

If he gets traded, how many top picks would be left from the "rebuild?" Laf/Kakko/Miller? |

Agreed…in the sense the both Leafs and Rangers more likely to seek picks/prospects/forward rather than swap D-men given cap constraints and D depth on both teams. Both players main issue seem to be playing time (not so much $) so swapping teams is less likely to solve that issue |
