yes, we've made a bad deal before, let's make another one!
- Pat1993

I hear you Pat, Dach hasn't proved he deserved that money.

But giving players these kind of deals is how you end up with bargains as well. We did it with Pacioretty and Gallagher and it paid off.

We decided to bridge Subban and it ended up costing us.

Hindsight in 20/20 and it's not easy making the right call beforehand.

Unfortunately, yes, it's Armia money.

The point missing by the dudes above was that it would not be the end of the world

again, they traded Romanov for him

Enough said

- deadpoulet

So you want to double down by adding a bad contract on to a bad trade?

Lundvist for Norlinder seems fair
- fidopro

Habs would have to add to that most likely.

I'm not a fan of 20 year old guys whining about icetime.

If Lundkvist was that great, the Rangers would play him.

How is it a bad trade? Neither player has played a single game since it happened.

Well if Mtl did not like the trade, they would not have make it, no?

Did you ever consider that?

Little late for a spray isn’t it?

You have not seen mosquitoes until you’ve been in Northern Sask/Manitoba.

- TurdFergeson

and how do they even do it? the article says it happens next wednesday. do they drive around spraying like hundreds of perfume salespeople in the mall? is an airplane involved?

i really only got bitten up bad one night so far this summer.

If it was Romanov straight across it would be palatable but essentially adding a first on top means Dach had to be a home run.

our county is getting our yearly mosquito spraying soon. south jersey and all the woods gives us mutant mosquitos.

Seriously, it's totally out of control right now. Can't wait for the cold nights to give them the slow death they deserve.

but wouldn't it be safer to give a shorter term/less money, to see what he can do given his freak injury and his recent struggles in Chicago? I highly doubt it would blow up in the habs' face the same way it did with Subban (who eventually made the deal look terrible after being traded for Weber).

I know this is confusing, but the pick came back after Romanov had been traded. No 1st pick if he is not traded.

This convo might be even more stupid than stupid laundry.....

You need to read that trade again.

Habs traded Romanov to the Islander for a first round pick.

They traded that pick and 4th for Dach.

Usually with truck mounted fogging units here. Sometimes aerial.

Yes. I had the pick incorrect. Still don’t think it’s a good trade. Time will tell.

Safer? Probably.

But that also prevents us from getting a good deal as we'll have to pay him "what he's worth or more" moving forward.

Both strategies can work and there are downsides to both imo.

They are (frank)ing annoying this time of year. I was at a roadside snack-bar and when I reached down to get my wallet there was a wasp and it got me inside the hand

Hurts like a mother(frank)er

Indeed.

Personally, I like it.

Romanov is much more of a sure thing as a 2nd pair defenseman but we have very interesting prospect coming up as LHD to replace him in the short/mid term.

We had no one of Dach's potential at centre in the pipeline.

For a rebuilding franchise, it makes total sense to me. Despite the risk.
