I think its goign to surprise some people if we get some of these young guys taking another step to compliment Demko, JTM, ep40 and Hughes. The defence is weak, goalie and forward group is far from it. We shall ses! - neem55
I wouldn’t say D is weak. Imo at their best they would be middle 3rd in the league. Problem is depth & injuries could make them bottom 3rd fast. |

I think the d is our weakest thing for sure, i really hope guys get better. If Dermott gets really good it would really piss some guys in here off so win-win. Rathbone would be nice but my breath isnt being held. |

Management knows this, hard to fix, RH D are at a premium. No one’s gonna take on OEL and Myers contract. - Bettmanhatesus
Dumba may be available.

Yes the D is behind the F’s & in goal.
Dermott is excited with his fresh start & should be highly motivated.
Improved by committee can happen. |

Yeah, tough to find a match. A package involving Demmer would be nice.

I'm sorry, is Demmer meant to mean Demko? That would be the absurd and you should be ashamed for even asking. And coming up with a nickname that is longer than his actual name is even more embarrassing. However, if you want Dermott, you are most welcome to him. |

So you waste the prime years of EP40 (and maybe lose him if he doesn't feel this team is going to win while he's at his peak) and QH just to be a PO team... sure, that really makes sense. Let's hope to God spitballs, bailing wire and duct tape are enough to turbo this team into a run.

A bit disappointing that a Miller trade was going to set the Canucks up for the future. Change the D and get a top 5 prospect pool back. I mean over the last 6 months or so since the TDL, clearly the trade didn't come in to set the Canucks up for the future and change the look of the D all together. It was gonna though, at some point a team was going to pony up hard for Miller. Management should have just waited, they weren't going to run out of time. |

Some peoples bath salts are much stronger than others. At least Canucks fans can move onto trading someone else now. |

It's easy to think the Canucks have a weak D when they have the best top 9 in the league

Friedman thinks there has been a change in the market. Hubby and Kadri long term deals for older players. This is the market and that's what the cost is to keep good players.
Gm's "If we don't do it ourselves, we will watch someone else" in relation to signing good players.
NHL Gm's going back to 2016 again |

Canucks are a weird team. Have all the right pieces for contention and then surround them with crap. Miller is a good player, but this contract is very much a.short term gain and long term risk. Oh yeah to keep the board simpin' strong, THANKS CAITLIN!!! |

I'd say you just described about 15-20 teams in the league |

I'd say the disparity between the core Benning was given and the complementary pieces being added is worse than most any other team. Exception being EDM. Rutherford was great for a few years (15-17) at supporting the core in PIT and then went back to mediocrity again. |

Good mornin all
Well a night to sleep on the JT deal & all in all pretty satisfied mostly. The 7th year is my only concern but then again some vets have shown to be pretty resilient & if JT can keep showing his durability I can live with it. I thought 6/8.5m was the magic numbers from mgmt being it was rumoured in the low 50m range. That said 8m per was my hope & tbh I believed that a bit of a dream. JTM got himself a fair last deal & was legit on all he said about Vancouver & the opportunity given. |

I gotta believe PA gave the extra year JT wanted & JT gave it as 8m. |

Years 5 & 6 will be key in how well JT stays healthy. Year 7 will be easily the focal point of concern but hopefully by then the cap will have fully adjusted & other signings before then are good team friendly deals. |

Well, the poster said you have to pay a premium for a RHD. I’m checking out the boundary.
Really… Hullie, Doaner, Hallsy, Burnsy, Hamburglar, Dominator, Jumbo Joe, Lucky Luc, Super Mario, Seabass, Pickles, Pocket Rocket, Russian Rocket, The Great One, The Other One … the list goes on and on.
