Don't you think this is a little premature? He's still only 19 years old. - MJL
God forbid someone is hopeful that a prospect may turn out to be the real deal. Yes, he is still a kid and may not pan out, but your boy Frosty is 23 and you keep making excuses for him. Oh yea, Frosty was a Hexy pick so he gets a pass. |

Sobchuk deal.
OMG that GM was terrible.
How dare he do that.
Worst GM ever.
Reaction! - konalover711
Yes, one of the worst moves ever by the Flyers! How about the time when they drafted Greg Smyth?! Typical stuck in the 70s move by management. He was a 7th d man at best. I think about it every day, as it set our franchise back many years.

Frost turned 23 after the season ended and missed essentially a full season at 21. He will be fine. |

Yes, I totally get that about Frost and would love to see him turn out to be a great player for us. My point was that Bob H was optimistic about Andrae possibly being a hidden gem and MJL the boss had to question his optimism. There's nothing wrong with being hopeful that a prospect turns out to be the real deal.

Ha! I'm not totally sold on Frost but I sure hope he is with the org and is productive for us. That said, I don't see him being a top 6 guy. I hope I am wrong and will be glad to eat crow if he turns out to be a solid player.

You can't figure out how it doesn't make sense. Once the draft is over, where a player was projected doesn't matter anymore. Who some Flyers fans wanted is irrelevant. The point is it hasn't gotten close to playing out. Not a single pro level game played. 19 years old and a year post draft. How about we let it start to play out before offering disappointment. - MJL
I never offered disappointment |

The Finnish preseason largely overlapped with the Flyers' Development Camp, so Tuomaala has only gotten into two games. His coach, former NHLer Olli Jokinen, anticipates Tuomaala breaking out into a middle six role this season but he'll have to earn it. - bmeltzer
In other words he only fits in Europe and not North American hockey.....😜 |

Yes sir! Frosty is a Hexy pick so all good! Sarge knows best! - Don Nachbaur Dude has to be related to Hexy cause he lives in total denial when it comes to how good of a GM he actually was here (not very good). Some nice stats from last season via the Hockey News yearbook. The Flyguys were 31st in offense and 27th on defense. They were dead last on the PP and 26th on the PK. Those are the stats of a truly bad hockey team. There are Corsi numbers too, but I ain't getting into all that cause I am simply not that much of a stats geek. Happy Labor Day! I hope Chuckles finds himself unemployed soon! Thanks! |

Well when raty who was a clear 1st round projected pick is passed up for whatever reasons and the hype machine goes into effect simply saying he’s a 2nd round pick will make people expect more.
Right or wrong as that may be - Stayin alive
I think its important to note 6 other teams passed on Raty until the Islanders picked him at 52 overall. You can drive yourself nuts with comparing picks, for example the Flyers draft Laberge in the 2nd round with DeBrincat on the board. It happens to a lot of teams in every draft class. What I have come to realize is its more important for the team that draft's a player to develop the skills of that player so they become the player the team envisioned, which is why they drafted him in the first place. Again with Toumaala the Flyers have started off poorly, but I am at least hopeful they are righting the ship in his development and now this kid might have a chance. The tools are there, speed, shot, instincts. We just have to hope the kid matures, stays healthy (which has been the biggest issue with many Flyer's prospects) and gets the support he needs to become a good pro. Recall what Elite Prospects states about Tuomaala:
He reloads to swing wide on his team’s breakout, collects the puck in stride, accelerates through knee-over-knee crossovers, and drives play across the offensive blue line. Blink, and you just might miss him. Tuomaala has a wicked wrist shot, and he can get it off in-stride from either foot.
You think the Flyers can use this type of player? |

It would be nice to see Frost report to camp early like at least 20 other skaters already have. But I’m sure there is a reason for everything. |

Fool, the comment that I made that you replied to was me objecting to those saying that Tuomaala has been a bit disappointing to this point. My comment was questioning the pessimism towards that player who is only 19. Nothing to do with Andrae. Follow the conversation. Others had no problem.

Yeah personally I was ok with the pick.
I did want raty there as sometimes when a clear 1st round projected pick drops and you have chance to take them it seems sometimes wise. I’m not down on toumaala at all.
But as with higher picks I do understand why people follow the path closer.
I think with flyers and surely some other teams too and more recently there’s been a lot of agreement amongst fans that some top picks have been questionable
Ruby
York
O’Brien
Toumaala
Morin
Etc …

Not sure how York made this list, so far he looks like he will be a very good player, at a minimum a top 4 defenseman. |
