The Sabres WILL NOT have a three headed goalie monster - period end of report.
- Goalieguy43

No one is saying that. But UPL will get some games when good vibes gets hurt. It’s almost inevitable

It's Buffalo, never rule out the possibility that they are all hurt at the same time.

Absolutely agree 🌮

Anderson isnt just a cheerleader from the sidelines.

5 games over fake .500 last season as a starter.

He's gonna be starting the season as #1 and will play until he's replaced by someone better.

- Boss34

This I don't agree with. Comrie is the expected starter and likely will be taking a 65% of the starts with Anderson and UPL divvying up the 35%. This has been heavily alluded by Adams and Granato this past offseason.

comparing euro leagues from ncaa is apples and oranges

one league is getting paid, the other a degree

give me one good reason why a person who gets his degree should be allowed to become a free agent, in essence if the player's dream all along was to get a degree, the nhl team that drafts him has no leverage other than burning a year on entry level contract

if a college player does not want to sign with the club that drafts him after he gets a degree, he should be forced to sit out a year or play a year in europe before becoming a free agent to protect the team that drafts him

- homiedclown

I don't understand the counterargument you're making. I'm not saying the CBA is "right". I'm just trying to compare the mindsets of some NA's to Europeans. And what you're proposing would never pass through the PA, unless a concession is made, like the costs of ELCs jumped, or NCAA ELCs were increased, or lessened to two years instead of three.

I respect that opinion.

It's Craig's team , his job to lead his team in game 1 IMO.

Guy shows up with a bag full of 308 nhl wins.
Playing against his former team in the opener.

We'll see comrie vs Florida on Saturday for the afternoon game.

I'm close to 50/50 on who they give game 1 to. Brain says Comrie, heart says Anderson.

This will probably sort itself in camp ,but if I'm donnie and I'm looking for a win in game 1.

Anderson 308
Comrie 13

Especially andy vs a team he put up 200+ wins with.

*if the Sabres could get another 17-12-2 out of Anderson, I'd take it.

They receive stipends and benefits, but they're not conventionally paid. They're also allowed to seek endorsements.

Holding draft rights for 4 years is a long time, compared to other sports.
- Lunaion

It used to be that if you drafted a European, you had two years to sign him, or he would go back in the draft.

It's why the Leafs traded Rask - he was behind Pogge on the depth chart, so he had no incentive to sign.

Yes, I know, 20/20 hindsight.

The error wasn't trading Rask at the time - that was smart.

The error was getting a bag of hammers for him.

It's a strange system. CHL is given an advantage, Russians are cheated, Euro and USHL/NCAA are treated equally. Simple solution is just 4 years for everyone.

if the player is committed to getting a degree they are holding his rights for less than 4 months though

God this season can’t start fast enough.

Prediction: This team is closer to the post-lockout Goathead team than they are to the best Eichel-era finish.

UPL takes off post-New Year’s.

10th place in East but only 8 pts out when all is said and done.

[Takes off shoes and socks]
65% x 82 games = 53 Starts
82 - 53 = 29 x 50% = 15 Starts each for UPL and Andy.

That is about what I said several weeks ago (50 / 16 / 16).

UPL starts in Roch and plays some 35 games for the Amerks, then comes up to spell Andy and gets ~15 games as he and Comrie split the rest of the season upon being called up.

Go Bills!!!
Should be an exciting game...as long as the CB's can keep coverage on short passes and the S's help over the top.

Get the pass rush going boys!!

Formidable starters, would imagine that you don't have much depth though.

The Leafs traded Rask because Boston changed their minds on Pogge. One of the scouts in Boston's department told the GM at the time to get Rask instead.

Pogge was originally in the deal. The error was trading Rask at the time - it was not smart.

I personally know said scout. He was drafted by Buffalo.
