Good to be "Jaromin with you, Zach.
As in "We're jamming'..."

It was wise to seek JJ's counsel and I want to hope we drive ourselves into your life as we have to each other.

This sounds a bit of an oxymoron. Hopefully you weren't driving when you posted this Wiz.

I grew up in Elmhurst--4 houses away from Bannerman. Also home to Tony-O, Savard, etc.

Supposedly I lived over by where Espo was getting a house (but that might had been a grade school kid's stupid rumor)... I kinda suspect it might have been in that it felt like most of the players if they lived in town were on the south side of the tracks -and I was up over close to East End Park. But by the time Bannerman was on the team ... I was over in Wayne's World territory - over between Elgin and Aurora ...

I didn't agree with him all the time but he never poop on me. I felt no disrespect. I met up with him between periods of a game at the UC once and he seemed like a good guy. At least with me.

I started watching the Blackhawks in the mid 60s, and was born in '61, so am I group A+?

Carolina just signed de Haan to a PTO, so we won't have Calvin to kick around any more. Addition by subtraction?

Bobby Hull must have been in the area too, I played against his kids when they were with the Elmhurst Huskies.

I dont understand why he couldnt find a team even if it was just a one year deal. I was always a fan of de Haan and if the situation was different for this team I would have loved to have him back as a good 3rd pairing guy.

The injuries really took a toll on De Haan. I am surprised he didn't retire this summer.

It’s PTO season, a few clubs have announced signings: Toronto - Anton-Reese, Vancouver - DeKeyser.

Anton-Reese is a strong bottom 6 Player. We will see if he sticks around and if he lands a one year contract with the Leafs or not. Would like to see Davidson take a flier on him if for nothing else to flip at the deadline

Kind of amazing what the rest of the league thinks of him. Davidson couldn't even get a draft choice for him at the deadline.

In that twin rink that you had to start a bondfire in the dressing room to get any kind of warmth? Our team played the red and the black regularly.

I'm a southsider. We played outa Willow Springs Ice Chalet so we only saw you guys up north in tournaments. Our top clubs were the Saints (Olczyk) and St Jude (Chelios). ........ But I remember the Huskies well. They had a monster who scored on me from HIS blueline. Puck danced like a Wilbur Wood knuckler slowing from 100 MPH to 50.

After Columbus got a first rounder for David Savard who had similar numbers as de Haan I thought there was no way Davidson couldnt get at least a pick.

I think like 333inthe3rd mentioned injuries just might have been enough for teams to not risk it.

Welcome Zach and good luck. There should definitely be plenty of material this season.

In regards to de Haan, other than a short period when Keith was out of the lineup injured and de Haan played well for 6 weeks or so, his tenure with the Hawks was mostly.....well......brutal. As a "veteran" he made a whole ton of mistakes in reads, poor passes, etc. that just shouldn't happen. Not really surprised than nobody would give up any type of asset for him given his showing over the last year+ of his time here, regardless of his injury status

Also great points, I think my fondness for him comes from the fact he was a shot blocker. Something this team really never found once Hjalmarsson was traded. But as they say he's someone else's problem now.

DeHahn doesn't skate as well as his early years in the league. His shoulder, back, and knee nowadays is a concern since he has tried to overcome injuries to said appendage...
So I would expect him sort of tread water, just try to get by on a deep team. I doubt he has much left to offer; maybe steady and reliable to cover if his teamattes are too adventurous on ice. BrindA'Mour has a system similar to Colliton but with much better athletes. Accomplished athletes, especially after Burns joined.

Carolina tried to upgrade this off season. DeHahn appears more like a depth sign or rotating as a third pair because injuries always happen.

Gardiner is what he is but teams want mailman with.good wheels. The team hopes to cover for his defensive inadequacy - both him and Coughlin that way. Coughlin is let go by Vegas so if he was such a good prospect, they easily could afford to have kept him at low cost. He had a hat trick but not moving into Vegas rotation. Likely just hasn't progressed enough defensively.

Anyway, perhaps Blackhawks defense could be pretty good under Richardson's design and with a couple or more kids emerging. Forwards buy in....so what I wish would happen but is premature according to posts in past months from Theo and wiz....

A line with Reichel and Teply. Could be the secondary scoring line. I see improvement from both players as a key. Slavin could become a good bottom line player too

If the defense is good to hang around in most games....then we need more scoring. Hence a Reichel/Teply line

More than any ideas I may mention though, so glad the reigns for Chicago hockeybuzz has been picked up. Thank you in behalf of many MANY who look here for updates on player performance and the prospects

There are many smart veterans who post here as well as a new fresh perspective by you. So we will enjoy that & know we are kept in the loop. I'm expecting everyone will focus more on prospects, especially those in Rockford deemed close to NHL worthy
